We will be sailing the Dream 2/2/26-2/6/26 out of Port Everglades. We live in FL so we will be driving down. Any recommendations or suggestions for hotels the night before thats as close to the terminal as possible? Thanks for any help!

We are sailing on the Dream out of Fort Lauderdale twice later this year and have reservations at the Holiday Inn Express on 17th Street Causeway which is just around the corner from the port.

I also have reservations at two places near the airport (Hyatt Place & Four Points) which I will eventually end up cancelling unless we decide on one of those two. All of these reservations can be cancelled without penalty at least 2 days prior to check in.

We live in Central FL and will also be driving down.

We live in Winterhaven. Any ideas how long the drive takes? Thanks for the hotel info!

So far, we've only sailed out of Port Canaveral and that's 70 miles from home to port.

Google maps gives the same estimate for me (Longwood) and from Winter Haven. I'm expecting at least 3.5 hours, although it could likely end up being 4+ hours. We will be driving down on a Friday (early August) for the first one (Saturday departure) and then Thanksgiving Day for the other (Friday departure), so I expect very different traffic for both (especially Thanksgiving day). Still a little over 4 months to decide on what time we are going to leave to drive down for that first cruise.

I thought about taking Brightline down to Fort Lauderdale, but we are too far from MCO to get a cheap (or free) ride to the train station. Parking at or near MCO plus train fare would be more than just driving and parking at Port Everglades. I could pay to park at the hotel for the cruise, but I would rather just be able to get in our car at the terminal and head home instead of a shuttle back to the hotel to get the car.

Someone mentioned the Sawgrass Mall in Ft Lauderdale. Is that close to the port hotels?

Not close in terms of Miami/Fort Lauderdale. But close in comparison to Orlando-Port Canaveral. It is about 25 minutes from the hotels in that area to the port.

I have stayed at the Doubletree at Sunrise Sawgrass Mills. It was good. Just a tip though, this is the team hotel for 25 of the 31 NHL teams when playing in Sunrise. So there can be added security and other headaches here.

I have stayed at the Holiday Inn blah blah blah South which was lovely but also sells out quickly and can get very expensive. Hampton Inn, not sure which one. But it is a Hampton Inn you should know what you're getting. And the Hilton Marina.

Honestly with the distances involved the hotels along Dania Beach and in Sunrise/Plantation are better value compared to the ones that advertise FLL/PE access.

You could go super boug and stay at the Hard Rock.

We stayed at the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Marina hotel. It’s a really nice hotel, next to a nice seafood restaurant (the Boatyard) and in walking distance of the cruise terminal. We were able to pop into a pharmacy (I think a Walgreens?) to pick up some things we forgot to pack on our walk to the ship. I would definitely stay there again.
