Hotel - Should I Stay or Should I Go?

I've stayed at both GCH and the DLH. People usually fall into one camp or the other as to which hotel they prefer, and I prefer GCH. I like that it's closer to the parks, and I like that it feels more upscale to me.

Having said that, we have a 1-night trip coming up, and currently have 2 standard rooms reserved at GCH. I noticed that we could get a 2-bedroom suite at the DLH for $120 less, so now I'm on the fence. I know that GCH is undergoing renovations. We wouldn't be using the pool anyway, and I'm guessing the construction noise would be happening while we are inside the parks, so it probably wouldn't bother us.

Okay, given all of that info, I'd love to hear some opinions on if I should stay with GCH or go with DLH.

One night? GCH for me.

With just one night you are most likely gonna be maximizing your time in the parks and the proximity benefit of the Grand is still key. You are not gonna be in the room when the are making noise.

When we stay at the PPH or DLH we are much less likely to just go pop back into the the room for a bathroom break, grab a jacket or drop off stuff we bought. At the GCH, we will utilize the benefit of being so close MUCH more.

Now, if you have never staged at the DLH...it might be a great opportunity to give that property a try and see how it works for you.

DLH as I hate construction on vacation. Last Nov I stayed DLH for the first time, having only stayed GCH previously, and I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it worked out. I missed the entrance to DCA being super close, but the monorail was much closer to DLH from DL so I felt that was a wash (we were in Fantasy tower, the one where you check in). After construction I look forward to going back to GCH!

Really, that's crazy!
Actually, we always check the price of the suites, as it is frequently cheaper than 2-3 rooms. My 2 bedroom suite is usually $800. 2 rooms, at $450 each doesn't make sense.

We have stayed at the DLH three times, and this next trip is a short one so we are going with PPH because of the cost and time we are there.
I cannot say anything about staying at the GCH other than it is a beautiful hotel; however, we had some noise going on at the DLH and once we informed the staff they put us in a higher level room in another tower. They also helped us obtain a better room for basically no up-charge our first Disney trip. So I can say my experiences at the DLH have been nothing but positive and I really love the style of the DLH for the nostalgia in the artwork and models in the towers.

We are always in the GCH camp. Love everything about it, proximity especially. But the DLH deal does sound pretty suite (haha).

Yes, just one night, and early entry is at DCA. It's a tough one.

With all the security changes, if you want to enter DCA with Early Entry, you are better off using the Main Entrance Plaza to get into the park at opening (more turnstiles, already have cleared security).

The GCH entrance is limited, and security can't open until the turnstiles open, so it is a lot slower to process guests, and you could spend the first half of the extra hour standding in line and going through security.

Now, after the Morning Rush is over, then the special DCA entrance/exit from DCA is nice.
