I am away from home, for work, staying in a Marriott.

As I was just laying in bed, I heard everything that my neighbor was doing in the bathroom!! I've heard toilets flushing before in other hotels, but never heard "the business"!! Yicky!!!

That is not what I expected to read about.

:rotfl2:

Our first night at Disney, our neighbors were two drunk ladies who kept going on and on about their miseries. "Oh Judy Judy Juuuuuudy. You, youuuuuu are toooo nicccceeee. You are too good for him Juuuuuudy."

The conversation went on and on and on. DH and I eventually started laughing at the abserdity of the situation. (We also had our rooms switched)

Grunting is natural, isn't it?:rotfl:

Oh gosh, my daughter and I were in a room a few weeks ago and at 2 a.m. a drunk woman started with "CarolAnn? CarolAnn? CarolAnn? Wake up. Wake up. CarolAnn wake up. WAKE UP. CarolAnn? CarolAnn? Wake up CarolAnn."

We wanted to scream "CAROLANN IS PROBABLY DEAD!"

She kept it up until 4 a.m. and suddenly it stopped.

Started up again at 11a.m. and this time CarolAnn was awake. It went downhill from there. LMAO!!!

p.s. I thought this thread would be about something else too. ;)

This happened to us at the Grand Floridian. We heard EVERYTHING. It was a little helpful though, at least we knew their plans for the day so we could avoid them (we got really tired hearing the kids whine every night and the arguments to get up at 7 am).

I've stayed in value, nearly all the moderates, the Beach Club and the GF and the GF was the only resort where we not only heard our neighbors but heard every word they said and everything they did. It was a huge disappointment.

The GF is older. Thinner walls.

DH, the kids and I stayed in a very nice airport hotel before flying home from L.A. this summer. I had read a few reviews saying that the one negative was that this place had thin walls, but we got such a good rate that I thought I could put up with it for just one night. Well... Starting at 5 AM our neighbor started coughing and hacking up a lung. Horrible gunky sounds went on for 45 minutes non-stop. A few times I was tempted to talk to them through the wall and say, "Are you okay in there?" since I figured that they'd be able to hear me just fine. :rotfl:

Of course, there's also a flip side to this situation. If walls are THAT thin, then I start worrying about what sounds people could be hearing coming from OUR room. :rotfl:

I have been a hotel GM for 20 years. We are just about to open another new hotel and I made sure the owners sprang on the extra material they use to kill the noise between rooms.

This was only a small property and it is expensive, but since we are getting high end room rates, it was worth it.

It is not worth the expense though for the bigger properties. But I know the guests at this one hotel we manage will be happy.

I only heard noises through a hotel room once in all the years I've been staying in them.. It was some poor dad trying to give his very unhappy toddler a bath.. Wow! Could that kid scream!!!:eek:

My DH and I stayed in one of the double cabins at the Grand Canyon this past winter and got more of an earful that I'd EVER want to hear again. Apparently the couple in the next room didn't realize there was a big crack at the bottom of the door separately the rooms....my DH and I tend to tiptoe around and speak softly so they couldn't hear us, but we could certainly hear them! We couldn't stop laughing and fortunately, we didn't run into them outside the cabin the next day.

We were in Disney this past Feb.and stayed at Pop. DH was in the bathroom very early one morning (about 5am) and he heard someone in the bathroom either next door or directly above our room vomitting alot. DH said he could hear the person throwing up, gagging and moaning like he was dying. He said a few minutes later he heard a knock on that bathroom door and a woman say "honey are you ok in there". I guess it's because the walls at Pop are thin and it was early in the morning so the resort was really really quiet. We have stayed there a few times before and the only other thing we have heard was toilets flushing.

I don't remember where I was but it was a long time ago. I was away with a couple of my friends and during the night we heard a couple start fighting like crazy. Then we heard stuff getting thrown:scared1: Thats' when we called the front desk and they were there in a minute.

Two words.
Ear plugs.
Never leave home without them ;)
