We're planning our second trip to Disneyland, and the first one as a family of six; our last trip was six years ago when there were only five of us. I thought Howard Johnson could accommodate six, as Lorealle on the old Hojo forums said they do, but I called and they say they can not have more than five in a room. I'm bummed about that, as we loved staying there last time. Can anyone recommend another nice place to stay that is an easy walk, allows six, and is clean and pleasant?

We've booked a Resort Suite at the Carousel. I've read many, many great reviews of the Carousel and we stayed there 15 years ago and had a great experience.. Our suite is basically 2 rooms connected, one with 2 queens and one with a king. Two bathrooms is a huge plus.

We have a suite booked at the Camelot. Desert Inn and Suites has rooms for six; lots of folks like though we wouldn't stay there again :/.

We stayed at Desert Inn & Suites in December and it was mediocre. We needed the 2 queens and a sofabed and it was one of our only options as we were booking last minute. I'm not super picky when it comes to hotel rooms, price was pretty cheap and beds were too hard for my back, everything would've been fine but the room was not very clean - when my sock stuck to the carpet from something really sticky I had an issue with that. I'd probably give them a second chance but not after trying other options first. On a plus note, my mother-in-law felt the sofabed was very comfortable and we liked that there was a door we could close for privacy that separated my husband, kids, and I in the room with two queens and the front room with the sofabed. It cut down on the amount of snoring that was heard between the two rooms :rolleyes1

Many people recommend the Desert Inn for larger groups. We're staying in a 2 queen room there next week and got a good deal several months out. A room with a pull-out couch was only $10 more per night. So for our stay your family of 6 could have stayed for $99 a night plus hotel taxes and fees if booked in advance. However, I think a lot of the nearby hotels can accommodate larger parties in their suites if you are looking for something a bit nicer. What's the large hotel across from HOJO (by Mimi's)? I've heard that is a nice place and has some larger rooms.

You can check the Castle Inn also. They have an Executive Suite with two Queens and a pull out sofa bed.

For what it's worth...I tried checking rates for a room big enough for six last night at Desert Inn & Suites and the cheapest room they had for end of September/early October was $179! There's no way I'm paying THAT for DI&S. Portofino Inn is about the same price, MUCH nicer - though it's probably a 10 minute walk (which we don't mind because we usually walk from another hotel that is 10 minutes just to the trams).

We are at the Best Western Park Place Inn right now with 6. Closest hotel to the parks!
I just tried for our dates, and they're full! Same with Park Vue. (This is a very last minute trip for the end of May) I see Fairfield and Ramada Maingate could both accomodate us. The Ramada seems nicer due to the better pool area, would that be true? Nothing offsite is going to compare to the water area at HoJos, I don't think. I'll look at Portofino as well.

I need to book today, as our dates are less than two weeks away!

The piece I would add about Desert Inn is that the worst part was the pool-it's indoors, too warm, and so cloudy we couldn't see the bottom. Our kids love to swim and we were there on the summer so this was very disappointing. If you don't care about swimming, I'm sure you'd feel different about the resort.

The Fairfield is not too bad, but I felt it was a little snug for my family (though we had to set up a portable crib, so that took some space.

On a related note, at the Best Western Park Place, how do you fit 6 in a room? Is the pull out bed big enough for 2 full size adults? We're planning a trip with some extended family and we're trying to figure it out. If it's too tight, we may end up down at the Springhill or Portofino even though they are a bit further away.

Park Vue Inn has rooms with 2 queen beds and bunk beds and we love it there....assuming some of your six is kids

We have 5 adults and stay at BWPPI. I can't imagine staying 6 adults, as two people would have to share a smallish sofa bed...maybe double size? I mean it's possible, but I can't see sleeping well with that set up. Sofa beds are hard enough for one person to sleep on since they aren't that supportive. But I guess it depends on the adults doing the sleeping.

What about a vacation rental place? I saw lots of houses behind DtD that are pretty close.

We have stayed at the Anaheim Islander Inn and Suites with 7. Our room had 4 queen beds...2 in a room connected by a door and a shared bathroom. Loved it. It is about a 15 minute walk. A pool, but no hot tub. A simple brekkie (muffins, donuts, coffee and apples). But we have never had a dirty room, the beds are comfy and loved the fluffy pillows!!

Have a magical time!
