Well, bummed to be home, but looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight!!
We left the hotel early, and got to Alamo. Confusing driving in LA!! Then to LAX for a very long wait. I was so bored, and wondering why we never got to see any celebrities!
So we went to Burger King and ate. Came back to our gate, and sat in our seats. I look up, and right across from me is George Stults!! From 7th Heaven (Kevin Kinkirk) I was so excited, I love that show, and him!! So he sat there on his cell phone for a while, with me trying not to stare!! He got up to walk away, and I asked him if it was him, and if we could get a picture. He was very nice, and said yes, chatted with us for a few minutes! So I was thrilled to get a picture. Very cool.
The flight home was fine, only 2 hours and 50 minutes. Then we had to drive 3 more. But, we are safe and sound. Just put all the souveneirs and stuff we bought all over the table, so I could take a picture of it all. (we bought ALOT!)
One thing I am now sure of--Next time, we stay on site, or on Harbour Blvd!! We stayed at the Holiday Inn, Resort Area. It was about 12 blocks from DLand. We rode the shuttle in the morning fine, but at night, it was torture! The last shuttle left at 1/2 hour after park closing. So one night, the fireworks started at 7:55 (running late), and the last shuttle was at 830. So the fireworks weren't over until 815. We were literally dragging our kids, running (against and with swarms of people) to get to the shuttle on time. It was very stressful. We were all just wishing we could walk across to Harbour. (I tryed hard to get in on one there, but all the hotels were booked up when we were booking) Next time, we book earlier and get in! But after being in the Dland Hotel, thinking it would be great to stay there!
The hotel itself--we were on the 6th floor. Our view was of the parking lot, and the I-5. It was slightly noisy. The pool was decent, hot tub nice. The service was ok. We were very disappointed that they wouldn't accept our Canadian Money. They told us that was normal, but they accepted it at the Park Inn last year. Anyone know if that is normal? The hotel itself was nice, clean. Some days the room was way cleaner then others. We had the kids suite, which was really cute. The kids had their own tv, vcr, and game cube, and they could pick 2 games from the front desk. The bunk beds were really skinny, thinner then a regular twin bed. The kids said they were uncomfy, skinny, and the blankets were rough, heavy and not nice.
The restaurant in there, the American Brassiere was good. The kids ate free, which was great. There was a breakfast buffet every morning (eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage, potatos, cereal, muffins, fruit, yogurt,) It was $9.95 for adults, and kids were $3.00--not free if they had the buffet. The food was very good. We had supper there, and it was good. The service was good, and the food came very, very quickly.
Other tidbits:
-We did ziploc bags for our undies and socks, worked great.
-We took a collapsible laundy basket ($1 at dollar store)and set it up. Then we could just throw our dirty clothes in there. Worked great.
-We took our laptop, which was nice to check email, and of course do my daily reports!
-I didn't see any Dis'ers! Too bad.
-Turtle talk with Crush is lots of fun. We saw it twice, it was different both times.
-If you find a Rainforest Cafe flyer in your hotel lobby and take it to the RC and spend $10 at the store, you get a free magnet.
-We carried a water bottle all the time, which was great. I had a belly bag with water bottle holder, one pocket for my wallet, one for my camera. Hubby had one to hold the video camera. Worked great.
-We had to buy sunglasses one day, it was so bright!
-Weather was nice, we wore jeans, and t-shirts. At 4:30 every day, it gets cool, and you need a sweater!
-There is huge lockers in the picnic area by the DL entrance-$10 for the day.
-We had a great fantastic awesome time!!
