Hotel recommendations?

We are a family of 4 (kids ages 3 and 7) planning a trip for April 2016. We are looking at spending a few nights at Universal (staying onsite), then hiring a car to visit other places like SeaWorld, Legoland, Kennedy Space Centre, etc.

Can anyone recommend a good place to stay (area and hotel) that would allow us to easily get to those places? We will be driving to Port Canaveral for a cruise on our last day.

I've only ever stayed at Disney when we've visited Orlando, so have no clue about anything outside of that.

If you search at the junction of Hwy 27 & I 4 . there are 3 or 4 good hotels & The Omni Hotel at Champions Gate .

All these are within 20 miles of Universal heading towards Tampa .

A good area for eating places as you can head North on Hwy 27 & turn off to Hwy 192 & head back towards A. Kingdom & Disney.

Really Disney would be half way between US, SW and LEGOLAND. KSC is about an hour away no matter where you stay.
