Hotel recommendation in Valdosta, GA?

My wife and I will be driving down I-75 to FL in 2 weeks from Ann Arbor, MI, and we think we will probably stop overnight in the Valdosta, GA area. Does anybody have any experiences at any of the hotels in that area close to I-75? Or any other good places a little bit farther north or south?

Most of the major hotel chains are represented in Valdosta. We've stayed at the Holiday Inn there (right by I-75) before and it was nice, though that was some five years ago. Things could have changed in those years, but I doubt it.

What I can personally recommend, from out experience just last summer and Christmas, are the Jameson Inn locations in Lake City, Florida (south of Valdosta) and Perry, Georgia (a couple hours north of Valdosta). Both a very nice, fairly new, and convenient locations for a decent price. I can say the same things about the Hampton Inn in Lake City from last summer, though this usually seems to be slightly more expensive than the Jameson. I believe there is also a Jameson in Valdosta, I just haven't personally stayed there.

We stayed at the ClubHouse Inn (small chain) in December. My parents stayed there in the past and recommended it to us. We got a great rate (I think it was a $45 government rate, rack looks like it's $75). The place was nice and clean. One of the best parts is that the price included a nice HOT breakfast buffet that had a nice selection. We got there too late, but each evening there's also a "Mangager's Reception" where they offer a free beverage and finger foods.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn in March ... very excellent. The staff at this particular Hampton (this is the Northern most one in Valdosta) was outstanding.
