Quick question on hotel rates: Do hotel sales generally pop up closer to travel dates? Or for certain times of the year? Perhaps as time passes, hotels aren't as booked up as they thought they'd be, so they reduce rates?
I booked our trip for early November, and the hotel (Homewood Suites Convention Center) rate is decent. But would it be advantageous to continue to check for reduced rates or is it a longshot?
I don't mind checking various sites periodically, but if it's one of those things that's more rare than seeing Steamboat Willie Mickey waltz down Main Street, then I'll not worry about it and be happy with what I've booked. On the other hand, if the rates traditionally drop late summer (or sometime), I'll keep my Mickey Explorer hat at the ready.
(Disclaimer: I understand that SWGE opening will change how things work, just asking about how things have been traditionally.) TIA!
