Hotel rates for Fall?

Quick question on hotel rates: Do hotel sales generally pop up closer to travel dates? Or for certain times of the year? Perhaps as time passes, hotels aren't as booked up as they thought they'd be, so they reduce rates?

I booked our trip for early November, and the hotel (Homewood Suites Convention Center) rate is decent. But would it be advantageous to continue to check for reduced rates or is it a longshot?

I don't mind checking various sites periodically, but if it's one of those things that's more rare than seeing Steamboat Willie Mickey waltz down Main Street, then I'll not worry about it and be happy with what I've booked. On the other hand, if the rates traditionally drop late summer (or sometime), I'll keep my Mickey Explorer hat at the ready.

(Disclaimer: I understand that SWGE opening will change how things work, just asking about how things have been traditionally.) TIA!

Early November is the start of the Holiday season at Disneyland so booking well in advance as you have is the best idea. Never hurts to check periodically though, maybe one of the other extended stay type places will have better rates or Hilton will release a sale. I wouldn’t make it a daily or weekly activity but check every so often. I had Desert Inn booked at Christmas (12/21 to 12/27) for $185 a night and then saw a sale rate at the Hilton Anaheim for $130 a night so grabbed it. You never know but it does happen.
All the best.

Thank you both, I'll keep an eye out every now and then, just in case a little pixie dust blows through!
