We are trying to make reservations for the OCt 12 - 17 time frame and can only find openings at the Embassy Suites South and the Hyatt. The Hyatt is having a suite sale, but not sure how close it is and is it in good shape or outdated. Any information would be appreciated.

Is there any other hotels that you are interested in? Seems like there are openings at other hotels. :confused3

We're going the 14th-18th and I found that with packages through Disney, Costco, and the like the availability was very limited. We ended up booking the hotel separately so we could stay at the Sheraton Anaheim. If you look at special offers for the hotels you can usually find deals that are just as good as the packages. We got a suite with the free breakfast buffet and free parking for only $150 more than the Costco package for the same hotel, and the Costco package didn't have the free breakfast.

We checked with Disney, a travel agent and called hotels independently and could only find these two with openings. There seems to be a large conference that has eaten all the reservations. I keep calling back, but still nothing else available.

Between Hyatt and Embassy Suites - any suggestions?

I'm responding because I'm so adamantly opposed to Hyatt. We had a bad stay there, the suites weren't kid friendly and the staff and bus drivers rude. I think Embassy Suites includes a breakfast? And their suites have a living room area. I don't think you'd get that at Hyatt. I'd go with Embassy. Definitely.

And Homewood Suites or Residence Inn if you can get one of them.

Not sure if this will help, but Lastminutetravel.com has the Hotel Menage for $78/nite. Not sure how many people are in your party.

Candy Cane Inn shows some availability on those dates. As well as the Ayres Hotel. Both of these hotels are highly rated as well.

I hope this can help you out!

Are there certain qualifications you are looking for? Because the Islander has rooms available for that time period- that is where we are staying.

We do have some qualifications

It must be close enough to the convention center because my husband has meeting there in the mornings

Kids are older and not worried about a kids friendly atmosphere - so we were interested in the kid suite for the extra room at Hyatt, but now am rethinking due to earlier post.

I have stayed at Embassy Suites elsewhere and loved it. The breakfast is fantastic (build your own omelette bar, pancakes, waffles, and all the traditional cold items).

I see you're from New Orleans, I used to live in Ocean Springs, MS.

If you're looking near the convention center, the full service Marriott is right there. Last time I was there, it was a little tired looking, but service was good, sometimes looks aren't everything (as in the case of Hojo's). The Hilton is right there too, I've never stayed there though. Those two are walking distance. The Doubletree Suites is down the street, that's a nicer property than the other 2.

If you want a suite type of room, down Harbor Blvd. is Homewood Suites (which is right next door to the Hyatt) and this is our hotel of choice when staying in the area, but there is also the Residence Inn right there (our 2nd choice but not as posh as Homewood) and they have suite types of rooms with a free light dinner on Tuesday-Thursday nights and free breakfast buffet every morning and it's a good one. Same with Residence Inn on Clementine, not really walking distance either but this one is close to many restaurants and a theater. Marriott Suites is on the same property with Homewood and Crowne Plaza, right across the street from Hyatt. There are restaurants on this property: Joe's Crab Shack, Red Robin, Oggi's (sports bar, we like the take out food) and Hyatt and Marriott Suites have Starbucks inside. You will need to take ART or drive over to the convention center or DLR. Hyatt/Crowne Plaza has their own bus with priority going to Hyatt guests. But it's a quick trip, a mile or two.

Hope this helps.

I have stayed at that Hyatt and loved it. The hotel has its own free shuttle which we found to be very convenient.

As far as Hotel Menage, I have heard that it isn't very kid-friendly so you might want to keep that in mind (very noisy and partying at the pool).

The Anaheim Islander Inn & Suites has availability for those dates and says it is 1 block from the Convention Center. They have a 2 bedroom suite with 3 queen beds for $108/night and a 2 bedroom suite with 4 queen beds for $116/night. I asked here and nobody had any reviews but it gets good reviews on tripadvisor.

Thanks all - we are going to look at these suggestions tonight and make a reservation - can not wait - we have not been to DL in 17 years - so YEAH!!

I would agree with earlier posts. I've stayed at both the Marriott and Hilton, both are pretty nice. Hilton is a little more up to date than the Marriott and has larger rooms. I would recommend them both.
