Planning a quick getaway to DLR in early Dec, and still working on hotel. We have a reservation at the Anaheim Marriott. However when we were there in 1992 we stayed at the Anaheim Plaza. The Anaheim Plaza's rate is better and I rememeber when we stayed there is was just across the street from DL's entrance. Just not sure what to do, it's been awhile since we've been there obviously so I realize the hotel has probably changed some. In 15 years time our taste in hotels has come up a little, but we are trying to keep this trip kind of low key

So any experiences with with either of these hotels? Anyone know how much of a walk (or is there a shuttle)?

Lori

I believe the Marriott has a shuttle but I'm not positive. Haven't stayed there, but I stayed at the Anaheim Plaza in May and will not stay again. It was really run down and I just didn't care for it. It is close and usually does have good rates, but I'd rather pay more and stay even closer or pay the same and stay somewhere with a shuttle.

I understand the Anaheim Plaza is renovating their rooms. Some have already been done. The rooms in the higher numbers are nicer than the 100's and 200's.

Ok, so what do you all suggest for nice and very close to the parks? My husband has heel spurs, so we don't want his feet to give out before we even get to the parks. We are also doing this in a whirlwind, so we want easy access to the parks
We don't mind spending a little more money for nicer and closer. All the Disney hotels seem to be booked that weekend

We always stay at Park Vue Inn which is directly across the street from the entrance. Also close by is Park Place Inn, Tropicana & Carousel Inn. I've never stayed at the Candy Cane but I've only heard good things about it. It's a little farther away than the other places I mentioned though. Good luck!

Howard Johnson's and Sheraton are both great, would go there again in a second - and the Disney hotels, try other venues to get rooms - call the hotel direct, WDTC, getawaytoday.com, and even the expedia, etc sites. You can usually find a Disney room if you go through other places to get one.

Carousel Inn, BWPark Place Inn, Tropicanna and Camelot are the closest and get good reviews here.... Also popular but a little further away (just over half a mile) are Howard Johnson and Candy Cane Inn

Thanks guys...we decided on The Candy Cane. Looking at the website, it just felt right.

Can't wait!

Yes, Candy Cane has handicapped rooms. I remember seeing the sign on the doors to the rooms. It really is a nice place to stay. I don't remember seeing that their shuttle would accomodate a wheelchair though.
