I just wanted to share something I found interesting. I was making ressies at Hershey Hotel in PA for a little trip and the room rate was $365/night. Of course this is the most expensive hotel at Hershey but even the Lodge was $270/night. Then I was making ressies at the Sheraton near Sesame Place. That rate was $199/night. So all in all I think for what you get on property at WDW, its very much worth it. ANd this was supposed to be our cheap vacation year LOL.;) Missing the Mouse::MickeyMo Ps These boards really help someone like me who isn't going till next year still feel like they are a part of the magic. Thanks everyone for sharing.:goodvibes :flower:

I agree with you. It seems any vacation costs us the same as going to WDW.

I couldn't agree more- especially if you get annual passes- airfares can be so reasonable now and mousesavers has great rental car codes- our Disney vacations are a bargain.

Oooh! Don't even get me started on what we've paid per night at the Jersey Shore! For the price, you would think that it was the presidential suite in Malibu instead of some little two-room efficiency apartment with a single air conditioner unit and mildew in the shower! Gimme a WDW resort anytime!

Recently went to a conference in Orlando staying at a hotel that was awful. The conference rate was $109, for mold and water stains on the wall, miami vice motif, the FD checked in another guest to our room and a rude FD clerk. Told my roommates I could get us a nicer room at Disney and it would be cheaper.
The only thing I liked about it was it was connected to the Fla mall.

I totally agree!! We go to Hershey Park every year and I always tell DH it isn't cheaper then going to WDW!! WE also go there every year. If it will make you feel better, the Hotel Hershey is a 5 star hotel, none of the WDW resorts are. It is a fantastic place. So is the Hershey Lodge. We love going there just as much as WDW!!

Thanks everyone. I'm sure these other hotels are nice ~ they're just not Disney.

Out of all the places I have been to I love Disney the best. Why? Because at most places you wind up paying the same, if a little less if its out of country, and you don't get the atmosphere that you get at Disney. My only trip that came even close to creating a real atmosphere was in the Dominican Republic, but that wasn't the hotel, it was just us because we purposely emmersed ourselves in local culture while we were there (made friends with some hotel workers and looking forward to our next visit with them!). BUt Disney has this way of making you feel a part of a whole Disney culture while just at the hotel! :) LOVE IT!

I agree. I just booked AKL savanah view using AP rate. It was 190 a night. This will be my sisters first trip to WDW. She travels all over the states for work and when I told her the rate she forced me to ask and make sure that that was per room and not per person. She always hears how expensive Disney is and she said she usually pays much more than this when she travels. She can't believe the transportation within Disney doesn't cost extra. I may make a WDW fan out of her yet. :p

I TOTALLY agree with you--we always thought we got great value staying onsite at Disney. And I know this opinion is in the minority--but we always thought the food prices were reasonable as well ::yes::

We did 2 mini trips to Hershey last summer, staying at the Lodge. The room for our first stay was old, outdated and needing renovation, the second room was in the newer section. When all was said and done, it was over $ 800 for 2 nights/ 1 park day for three of us. WDW is a bargain in comparison. If only we didn't need airfare we'd be down more often than every November.
