I know a lot of you will view this as petty, but I *really* hate to pay to park at the hotel when I am staying at the hotel.

You don't pay at Disney hotels, so it really stands out.

I'm savvy (read that as old) enough that I know it is "built-in" to the Disney prices and a separate line item at the Uni hotels, but it's annoying to me.

Looks like I'll be paying 18 per night at the RP next weekend, and then 10 per night at CB in December. Lovely.

Now just waiting for them to discover "resort fees" so they can tack on a charge for the pools and the other amenities too.

Rant over.

That's just it my friend - I am certain that they do. However... they build it into the price and you never see it. I just want to see a total, so I can compare.

I thought, hey I booked Cabana Bay for 95 a night plus tax, compared to Pop Century for 100 a night plus tax. Then - lo and behold - it's actually 105 a night plus tax.

Again - I'm savvy enough to check for hidden charges on the website, etc. I'm still looking forward to my stay there.

I just wish they would build it into their prices and give the public a total per night charge when shopping around.

It wouldn't be fair to those who don't drive to the resorts, why should they pay a higher rate to subsidize those with vehicles?

That said, we always rent a car when heading to Universal and consider the $18 a night a deal when compared to typical non-Disney resort fees for a 4 star property in the Orlando area ($25 & up last I checked).

WDW is very savvy to offer both ME & onsite guest parking 'free'. The perceived value helps in justifying higher room rates to the consumer, quite the strategy that helps to keep guests and their vacation $ in-house.

I couldn't agree more. WDW avoids what you said in your first paragraph about fairness. Oh yes, those folks who arrive to WDW on the Mears or Magic Express are absolutely funding the parking lots and roads of Disney, they just don't see it as a line-item on their bill.

And don't get me started on "Free Dining" LOL!

Thanks for the response.

if they would only bring back 'the good old days' of FDP with appetizer & tip included...as if, lol.

I prefer it that way.I dont drive when at universal and I dont want to pay for parking if not using the service. At least it is a reasonable charge, I paid $40 a night to park my CAR in Washington DC

I hope you at least got kissed too for that kind of money!

I agree - the $18 a night (PLUS TAX!) is a little annoying. We live 2 hours away, so we always drive, and it's definitely something we have to factor in when we are deciding where and how long to stay.

Does anyone know if Cabana Bay will charge the same for parking? That's a chuck of change when you add it to a $90 a night room.

The lowes Website is saying $10 a night for parking for hotel guests at the Cabana Bay Beach Resort. The price for day guests is still TBD. I wonder if they are going to set day guest prices to discourage people from parking there from the other hotels and for theme park use.

Thanks. So what exactly is a "day guest"? They are going to have an option to use the facilities at the hotel without actually staying overnight? :confused3

Possibly? I mean a pool with a slide and a lazy river are kinda big draws, especially if they'll allow pool hopping from the other 3 hotels (but then that lazy river may get pretty full).

Another point on the no parking fee at Disney, you can't really walk to any of the parks from most of the hotels (only ones I know are the 5 Epcot hotels, and the Contemporary). I'm sure if the parks were more accesible from the resorts like Universal's Disney would be charging a noticable parking fee to deter guests parking at the hotels. Much like the Universal hotels and some of the ones surrounding Universal.

Day guest can be a guest that is visiting someone staying at the hotel.

If pool hopping will be permitted to CB from the existing resorts, I assume they'd offer a shuttle as they do between the existing properties.

whether they'd request resort ID to utilize is another matter.

erinsmom - thanks for the link. I do know that it's currently permissible. jmho but not sure if the existing onsite properties' pools could handle large influx of guests from CB during busy periods...time will tell.

We were discussing this a few weeks ago when we were there. Mac and I don't know how this will play out but we will see.
