just curious is the parking fee built in to the reservation I already paid or will I pay it when I get there?

It will be added onto your nightly bill after you check-in. Right now, they don't know if you are driving your own car, renting a car, renting a car for half the time, or NOT driving at all. They'll handle it at the front desk or when you pull up to the guard shack at the resort.

It's not built into what you already paid (unless you booked prior to 3/21/18). They can't because they have no idea who is bringing a car.

No charge for DVC members staying on points or using a cash reservation for a villa. No charge for vehicles with HA placards. No charge at the campgrounds. But everyone else pays to park a vehicle overnight. IOW, parking at a resort for an ADR is free but parking at the resort you are staying at is not. How's that for Disney logic?

Plus, where you stay makes a difference. Value Resort guests get a break and only pay $13 per night while Deluxe Resort guests pay $24 per night. Moderate Resort guests are in the middle with $19 per night. Again, Disney logic at its best...parking a vehicle overnight costs nearly twice as much at Deluxe Resorts as it does at Value Resorts!

Wow that crazy pricing scheme. That is one reason why I recommend not to get a car till you need it.

--But you are parking your car in Deluxe quality asphalt, none of that value-level play dough parking.

Oh boy you've done it now. Wait until one of the DIS "WDW Police" read your take. They'll surely be able to nicely explain to you why the price for parking, at each level of resort, makes perfect sense.

Not a defense, totally a guess: a VERY quicI look at some resort rates makes me think the parking fee is about 20% of the average standard room rate at the value and moderate resorts. No idea on deluxe, those ranges are way too disparate.

Perfect sense...Disney is an income maximizing machine, and this price disparity is a logical program. If you pay many hundreds of dollars a night for a room, you're much more accepting of a higher parking rate than if you only pay a couple of hundred dollars. The price has nothing to do with the cost to Disney to produce the commodity.

Thanks Sheriff. Just kidding...just kidding.

This parking fee is really stressful for me. I was going to book a room over July 4th, even got it in my cart, but couldn’t pull the trigger because of the parking fee. Same thing this week - I was signed up for the AP Toy Story event today and wanted to be on property, got the room in the cart, and couldn’t pull the trigger because of the parking fee. I just drove over for the event and came home. The only reason I have two trips booked for next year is that I have a friend who can drop me off and pick me up, so no car and no fee. I won’t inconvenience them by asking for a 5:30am pickup on a Saturday though, so weekends are an issue (my weekend is Wed -Fri). I used to book a lot of spontaneous weekends on property, but not anymore.

In answer to the OP I have never seen paid parking included as part of the room rate. It’s either complimentary parking, or an extra fee for parking in addition to the room rate. If you booked after the March cutoff date, you will be billed separately for parking by Disney. If you booked prior to that date, your parking is still complimentary.

Really?? 20%?? So, average room rate for the moderates is ≈$95/night and ≈$65/night for a value?? I think your abacus is broken...

Sorry. 10%. Notice that I couldn't spell "quick", either (no matter how many times I corrected it.)

Please note, my VERY quick look involve zero equipment. Not even an abacus. Or chisenbop.

I have an idea for Disney. Since they (successfully) charge more for exactly the same product (a parking space) at the deluxe resorts, maybe those staying at the deluxe resorts should pay more for exactly the same park admission tickets?
