Hotel paid in full when booking

I booked a room at Aventura for October through Undercover Tourist because it was around $300 cheaper than Universal site. When I checked out it went ahead and took the full amount and not the usual one night deposit. Has anyone else ever booked through them and is this normal? I dont mind paying in full and prefer it that way but I've always just paid one night at Universal hotels.

Yes, this is typically how it works through Undercover Tourist.

We also had to pay in full when we travelled to California in June, and had booked our accommodations a couple of months in advance through Undercover Tourist
