Hi All,:wave2:

Just after some advice on hotels. The last time we went to DLP we stayed in the DLH. We really enjoyed it, but can't really justify the high price compared to the other hotels.

So, my question is which hotel would you recommend? I've rounded it down to Seqouia or NY.

We have two small children DS will be 5 and DD will have just turned 3. Our trip will be in late December (DS gets an extra week of school holidays before the main schools, so we are going then).

We are planning on booking in the next couple of weeks while the 2 nights/2 nights free offer is on.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I know most people are going to say SL is lovely at christmas with the open fire etc., and I have stayed there myself during christmas season, but my vote is for New York, just a far far nicer hotel in my opinion and a higher category than SL which means a hot food selection at breakfast, plus it's that little bit closer to the parks, very handy when it's cold.
:)

There is no doubt that Sequoia Lodge has a very Christmassy feel to it, but I would also go for New York based on it being closer to the parks and a higher standard of hotel. The main Christmassy part of the SQL is the bar and you can visit that no matter which hotel you choose to stay in!

There was a thread a few weeks back regarding choosing between the two, you may find it helps you to make up your mind as well:

Brill, thanks for the link to the other thread. I think I'm heading towards a HNY stay. I think that the proximity is going to be better for us, and so is the cooked breakfast - my children are big fans of pancakes for breakfast (as am I!).

Thanks for your responses!

Vote for Sequoia Here, I just don't think it can be beat for that extra christmassy feel during winter season.

On the walking front, it's only an extra 5 minutes, so we actually say that if we're on our feet most of the day any way, what's 5 minutes?...

Hi I've only ever stayed at hotel new York so cant compare but I don't recall seeing pancakes at breakfast time, I may have missed them and be completely wrong so someone please correct me if I am but if that's one of your reasons I would double check.

I am pretty sure that you are right. You get pancakes at DLH but not HNY.

No matter which hotel you choose, you could always pay go have breakfast at DLH on one or more of your days!

Hi,
Another vote for the New York here! Like you we stayed in the DLH last year.
Apart from closeness to the park as a plus for DLH we prefer the NY. W've paid extra to have a Christmassy room for this year, an extra £89 I think.:santa:

Ooh thanks for all the info - good to know about the pancakes. I'll pre-warn my small people.

Now just got to convince DH that a Christmas trip is a good idea. He's worried about the cold and thinks it may be too much Disney (!?!) as we did DLP in June and we're off to WDW October 2014.

What is the Christmassy room? Do they decorate it for you? Sounds like fun!
