Hi everyone - I need some help regarding a hotel near Universal/IOA. There will be 4 of us (dh, ds (17) and dd (15).I stayed on site last year but we just can't swing the expense this year.

We will be staying at Disney from October 3-9 and need somewhere real close to Universal from October 10 to 14th. I looked at the Holiday Inn Universal. They say it is right across the street. Is it within walking distance? Has anyone ever stayed there before and if so how would you rate it? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks for all your help!!!!

Diane

Diane,
Someone recently posted a review of the Holiday Inn Universal and said it was horrible. I've never stayed there so I don't know. We have stayed at the Amerisuites Universal (just behind the Holiday Inn) and found it to be a very nice place with decent sized rooms, free deluxe contintental breakfast, adequate-sized heated pool, etc. We got the room for $28/nt. through Priceline. They had a shuttle to Universal, but we didn't use it because we had a car. We did, however, walk to Universal our first night just to see Citywalk. It was a little bit of a hike -- about 15 mins. with three DDs, DH and a stroller -- but definitely doable if you're used to walking. The Radisson is also right across from the Holiday Inn and Amerisuites and I have read great reviews of it on this board. My advice would be to try to stay away from the Holiday Inn and, perhaps, consider the Radisson or Amerisuites. Good luck!

With a brother/sister being teens, you'll need a suite.
There's one more I found that's close by you can look into.
It's the Hilton Homewood Suites located at
6624 Hospitality Way

It's brand new, just opened. I drove by it on my last visit a few days ago. They're building a regular Hilton Garden Inn next door that is still under construction.
Just for fun, I did a check and got $89 per night. Maybe you can do better with a promo code or some online service. But for a suite hotel, I'd stay here since it's brand new. Not within walking distance, but very close.

The Radisson is alot nicer than the Holiday Inn and that rate at Expedia can't be beat!!!!
