Hotel near BUF airport?

We are looking at taking an early-morning flight out of Buffalo, but this will be our first time flying from that airport.

Can I ask for recommendations for a nearby airport hotel? (Clean, and a pool if possible would be nice). Has anyone had a horrible experience that I can learn from?

Thanks.

Not that I have an answer to your question, but I too am curious. I've never flown out of the BUF airport but am considering it for our April 2010 trip.

Let's hope someone falls upon this thread!

I have stayed at several...
Holiday Inn is right next to the airport, no breakfast
Days Inn is right across the street with breakfast
Millenium is about 5-7 minutes away next to the Galleria Mall, no breakfast
Hampton Inn is near Millenium with breakfast

All of these were very clean and comfortable and some offer park and fly rates with up to 14 days parking. We prefer to park at the airport so I usually use Hotwire or Priceline..the first 3 hotels I listed I got through either Hotwire or Priceline and never paid more than $49.

+1 for the Days Inn. We stayed there on our last trip and had no problems at all.

I've stayed at, and would highly recommend, the Hampton Inn by the mall (pool and breakfast) and Sleep Inn next to the airport (no pool but breakfast has make your own waffles!!).

What kind of rates is everyone gettong for the sleep/park/fly deal ???

I'm debating staying over the night before our flight. We don't need to since our flight is at 1pm and we are about a 90 minute drive from the airport but parking with the airport coupon will cost around $70. So I thought if we could stay over for an extra $30 or $40 it might be worth considering.

We have stayed at the Quality Inn a few times - it has a pool, and a breakfast (mostly donuts, but hey, they are krispy cremes!) and a van shuttle that takes you to the airport. Its an older hotel, certainly the rooms are not 'great' but its a place to sleep, the pool is warm and the kids loved it.

I used CAA and got a rate of 110, but this is a couple of years ago.

I never thought to compare prices by parknfly coupon and hotwire the hotel, I think the PP had an excellent idea - because I hate having to get a shuttle to the hotel and then drive home, it would be nice to have the car right at the airport. Looks like doing this would be a bit of a wash (cost the same) except one thing-- the park and fly hotel deals usually allow you to park up to 2 weeks at their hotel for free, so if you are going longer then a week, it may be more expensive to park your car at the airport. I guess you would have to crunch the numbers on that one.

Holiday inn express on Buell? - very clean and not bad pool- but looks like it is a little pricey now- last time I looked it was $149/night for park and fly.

I always use priceline now and then pay for airport parking.

We have gotten- millenium- nice pool and rooms we very nice- contrary to their hallways.

Days inn- a place to sleep and the free breakfast was a bonus.

Holiday inn- new renovated rooms- pleasant surprise.

we always stay at the Quality Inn across from the airport
here is the address 4217 Genesee st. they also have great CAA rates

The Days Inn for our time period (Aug 18) is $129 with 14 days parking, the Holiday Inn is $149 with 14 days and the Fairfield Inn which is brand new is $179 with 14 days. We always park at the airport because we like just to jump in our car but are considering a park n fly this time. I have read that some hotels use parking lots that aren't on the hotel property which I'm a bit leary of...does anyone have any insight on this?

Only to say, for sure the Quality Inn has parking onsite at their hotel. I dont know about the others though.

I know Millennium has rooms with 2 queen beds (as we stayed here last year)... but do any of the others suggested here? Or two king beds? Or suites?

Thanks

Fairfield Inn is about 2 weeks old. Their price is $179 US for a 14 day park and fly. A hot breakfast is included and it is directly across from the airport.

Our flight out will likely be 8:30 am, and we want to be at the airport by 7:45 am.

So breakfast isn't important for us - it would take too long for DD to eat.
I also agree, I think we'll prefer to park at the airport.

So many choices!

I believe the Sleep Inn has a few suites. We've always stayed at the Homewood Suites on Dick Road. Great service, managers reception (if you're flying out Monday to Thursday), a great breakfast, and a separate room from the kids. It served us well, but last time I checked the prices for our trip this year, they were around $200 for the park and fly. I think they've just priced themselves out of our business, and we'll try somewhere else this year.

The Ramada on Freeman Rd is a dump. And dumps would be offended by me lumping them in with this Ramada. It's a veritable POS.

/end rant.

We stayed at the Sleep Inn and had to park up the road in a parking lot in March 2008. The shuttle was fine for the trip to the airport in the morning but we had to wait quite a while (30 min or more) for the shuttle on the way back to the parking lot on the return home and there was confusion as to who was to be allowed in their van- we had been waiting the longest 2 other families thought they should be able to get on before us- the hotel did not take names when people were calling from the airport for the shuttle. There had been a huge snow storm when we were gone- the parking lot was a mess- very muddy huge melting snowbanks- The shuttle driver was in a hurry to get back to others that were waiting. We were trying to get our van out - my son and I pushing it over the snow bank directly in front of it. The cars were parked too tight there was no way to get at our doors to get the luggage and kids in. The driver threw our suitcases out of the shuttle van right into the mud- he did wait till we got over the snow bank before he left. We complained to the hotel who just said they were very busy - it was the end of March Break and they were sorry and they said they would send us some vouchers of some sort but they never did. We sent them pictures of our muddy luggage-we had 6 suitcases. The hotel itself was fine-we had a "suite"- 2 beds/sofa bed - there was a good breakfast. The next trip we stayed at the Best Western and parked at the hotel itself but we were only gone 5 days and they did put us around the side of the hotel off the pavement- there was no snow that trip so it was fine- shuttle was good- room was fine although small- breakfast good and early start. Our next trip is December and I got the Best Western from Hotwire for $54 and we will park at the airport.

Ok, this will be the dumbest question EVER.

How do you go about getting hotels on Priceline or Hotwire? (not the actual internet part, however). Do you wait until a few days before you want the room? I have never used either service.

I have stayed at the Sleep Inn for 5 to 6 times, no problem. Park and fly around $120/US for 1 week plus taxes. Will be trying Best Western for our October and December trips since I found Best Western travel cards for redemption with Airmiles.

I just booked Fairfield Inn for $129.oo -park and fly package. On Marriotts website.

Wow , someone quoted $179?
That's really high for a Fairfield Inn. Even a brand new one.

We are a family of 5, and this room is a 2 Queen with a rollaway request.
I'll post in Feb. how it all works out.

We want to stay at the hotel when we return from our trip. I guess I should call to make sure I can park for 10 days before we actually stay there overnight!
