I am flying in from Germany the night before I meet my sister at MCO. I have stayed at the Hyatt but I just priced it and its $266/night now. Looking for a clean, nice hotel I can rest after a long flight for a good rate. I will be alone so something I will feel safe walking into. Thanks!

A couple of suggestions.

1. Fairfield Inn Airport
2. La Quinta Airport
3. Hampton Inn.

All of these are more budget friendly then the Hyatt, have free shuttles and as a single female I would have no problem staying in any of them. (I have stayed in the Fairfield and the Hampton)

We're staying at the Hilton Garden Inn on our last night in June (our flight leaves early the next morning). I've always had good luck with Hilton properties (www.hilton.com)

Ok I will also check them out.

The last time i stayed at the Hyatt it was SO convenient but I think paid $89-$99 on a special. Over $200 is CRAZY :)

I've stayed at the LaQuinta North on Frontage road and give it a :thumbsup2 . Great safe location, easy access to airport (especially when departing--one right turn onto Semoran and straight to the terminal). Really nice breakfast room with lots of windows and better than average selection. Used to be better value at around $59 depending on how busy Orlando was, now seems to be a little higher year round. YMMV. (I book thru expedia.)

Hint: Depends on how much baggage you are toting, but if you are going to Orlando and renting a car, you can save a day, especially if getting in late and want to just go to motel and crash and not go drive anywhere. Fly in, motel shuttle, next morning shuttle back to airport, pick up rental car like you just landed.

In case you wonder why a Florida Native stays at the airport, I live a few hours from MCO. When going on a long trip, if my plane leaves at 7 AM I do not want to spend several hours on the interstate from 3 to 5 AM in FOG season. Too dangerous, to many interstate wrecks involving semis. Just drove to airport evening before and stay nearby. Relax.

Oh, and for current list of airport motels with free shuttles http://www.orlandoairports.net/marketing/hotels.htm. Notice: The place they show at Florida Mall is half way to Disney, I would not consider it a "nearby airport" location. The places north of the airport along 436(Semoran) are newer(under 10 years old) and all grouped in the same area. Beware some of the places on McCoy Road. Some are aging 20 -30 year olds. They are on an access road north of the 528 and if you don't know the way quite difficult and confusing to get to and to get out of and back towards the terminal. They also are right across 528 from the west runways. If you enjoy planespotting, great. The Semoran motels are between the parallel runways and a mile north of the runways and much quieter if you enjoy sleeping. :cloud9:

The Hyatt sells "Stay Certificates" where you prepay 1 night's stay for $135 + $6 s/h= $141 total including all taxes. Delivery outside the US is $20 (fed ex) Still $155 total is not a bad price!!:thumbsup2

I just used one for the 1st time last month. All I had to give was the cert and my cc for incidentals. No addl. costs. It ended up cheaper than my parents' senior rate of $129 + tax.

It's great for when you really want the Hyatt but don't want to pay their reg. rate but can't/don't want to chance it with Priceline or Hotwire.

I would first call to make sure there are stay cert. rates available for your desired dates before buying. (I think, like using ff miles, there's limited availability. Just b/c they have hotel vacancy doesn't mean you can use a cert.) They are non-refundable and do expire though mine didn't state its exp. date on it. I wasn't worried since I knew I'd use it sooner or later but if you don't visit Orlando often, I would make sure you can use it before buying. Another Diser stated Hyatt put a hold on her room and allowed her to call back with her stay cert. # once she received it.

Hyatt MCO requires a Choice level certificate.

HTH!!:goodvibes

Thank you so much I just got my stay booked and my certificate is being sent to my sister's - turns out she is flying in the same night but I know I will be exhausted after the flight from Germany so I will need a bed quick!

It worked out perfect plus we save on 1 nights car rental!

Happy Holidays!

Can totally understand this FLANative.....and we do the same thing up here in Philly. During the long winter months, if we fly out of Philly International during snow/ice/sleet etc, we stay near the airport overnight as well and we live only 1 hour or slightly less from the airport. But we also have to travel on an interstate to get there. Better to be safe than sorry we always say.

I'd also like to add, we just stayed at the Wingate Inn this past summer. Convenient shuttle to and from the Orlando airport and our room was in nice condition. There were two restaurants within a 2-4 min walk (Chilis and an Italian restaurant that I cannot recall the name of).

Here are some photos of our room ($59/night on Hotwire) :

I've heard you can bid Hyatt at Priceline and get $80-90 a night or less. The lowest I've been able to get them to accept my offer is $103 or something depending on travel date though so I guess it's YMMV.
