Not a Disney question...chain hotels. And even though I don't usually post here I'm asking you budget minded folks 'cause you seem to have all the answers. :)

Whenever I look on Expedia/Travelocity/etc, I say I have 2 adults and 1 child (2). I WANT a room with a king bed but all the hotels say "Exceeds Max guest."

Any suggestions? Would I have better luck if I call the hotel directly?

I don't want a crib, but could I be in a King room if I requested one? Is there anyway to get around this? I understand room limits, and it's not like I'm trying to fit 8 adults in one room or anything, I just want all of us too get the best nights sleep possible in a hotel!

Also (planning a trip with my BFF), my friend has 3 kids, 3, 2, and 1. Is she going to have a hard time finding a room that will fit them all? Any suggestions for finding a hotel that won't break her budget?

The trip is to Sesame Place if that helps at all!

Thanks for the help!

Can't answer the part about your friend's dilemma, but when we still only had one young child we always looked for a room with a king (now we have one older and one younger, and our preference is a king w/ sofa bed.)

As long as you are in the US and not staying at an all-inclusive resort (or one that has admission to entertainment as part of the guest privilege -- Great Wolf lodges would be an example), then just saying that you have two guests is perfectly fine. American chain hotels customarily do not charge an extra fee for young children staying in the parents' room on existing furniture.

You can call the hotel directly, but occupancy is generally based on bedding. The expecation is two persons per bed, no persons on floor. In fact, you SHOULD call the hotel directly. While, sure, it's not a WDW hotel question, it sounds like a relevant question. You would be able to book a king-bed room (at the hotels were this is a bookable category) with two adults and one child under three. Disney's automatic assumption is that the child will be sleeping in its provided pack&play, so you wouldn't be exceeding anything. Not sure why Sesame Place's system doesn't 'understand' the same concept.

So, yeah - call.

Oh, and your friend's trip is where?
