I'm looking for a decent hotel in Tallahassee along the I-10 to stay on our way back home. :sad1: I find many online but am unfamiliar w/ each exit & if the area is considered "safe". I am a single mom & will be travelling w/ the 2 kids by myself. I know you get what you pay for, but I'm not looking to spend alot$$. TIA

Any on the hotels along I-10 are in a safe section of town. If you book any of the hotels on US 27 (also called North Monroe St), exit 199, there is a Cracker Barrel close by and a Shoney's, along with a bunch of other restaurants right down the street. There are several hotels in this area. It is a good area of town. There is construction along I-10 thoroughout Tallahassee, but it is not too bad most of the time. Exit 203 also has a lot of restaurants, including a Village Inn, but not too many hotels. Hope this helps :goodvibes

The Ramada at exit 199 or the Microtel seem to be pretty good.

There is a Cabot Lodge and a Hilton Garden Inn at Exit 203 and are Wonderful.

I may be a little more picky than others, but these are the ones that I would stay at personally.

I have heard many people talk about the Holiday Inn Express, in quincy/midway about 10 minutes from exit 199 (not sure of the exit number sorry). It is newer and if you search tallahassee on these boards, you will find out some more information about it and the Microtel.

All of these are right off of I-10. There are many places to eat around them except for the Holiday Inn Express, less choices there and in a more remote area. But a very nice and safe area.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for your help. Are either of you familiar w/ a Country Inn @ exit 209A? I think it is pretty new?

My kids go to FSU and we always stay at the Cabot lodge on Exit 199. It is older, but clean and reasonable as long as it's not a football week end. They have a pretty good breakfast also.

Our stay would be on a Thursday night. So I don't think football would be an issue.

I have not been there (Country Inn at 209A) , of course, but I have driven by it and it seems nice, and I've eaten at a restaurant near it, which had good food, but the name is escaping me. It is actually east of Tally, so if you wanted to run out for something it would be a few miles back (not that many, Tallahassee isn't very big) towards town. I-10 doesn't run through any bad parts of town, so really any that met your budget around the interstate would probably be fine. Hotels at exits 199 and 203 have the most around them. During the football season I am pretty sure the rates get hiked up, so if you are coming during that time, further out would probably be cheaper. I haven't stayed in any of them for a long while, so I am not much help with which hotel, but the Cabot Lodge is where my clogging instructor has people stay for our clogging convention.
