We went to Hershey a couple of years ago. We stayed at the Hershey Lodge, while it was really nice, we dont' want to spend the money on it this time. I would love to hear your suggestions on a hotel that is close and nice but a lot cheaper. My husband said that the 4 pts Sheraton looks nice. It doesn't have an outside pool, which would be nice, but not a deal breaker. My husband also said that he would like to see the Harrisburg Senators while we are there. Is this ball park in this vicinity? Restaurant suggestions? I have one boy 16, and two girls 14 and 9. I would appreciate any and all of your suggestions. Any ideas on good prices for Hershey tickets? I know a lot of questions. Sorry. Thanks everyone!

i like the Holiday Inn Grantville better.
It's about 20 minutes away. Close to the major highway.
Indoor pool, bar and restaurant inside.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn at the Park. Very very close to the park and some shopping. Clean, comfortable and had a small pool. The buffet breakfast counter and lobby seating was just enough to start the day, and very comfortable. Would stay there again.

I like the Mainstay Suites in Grantville! For a very reasonable price you get free breakfast, an indoor pool, indoor minature golf, indoor basketball, and a kitchenette in every room.

There have been several threads about this lately, so be sure to search for them.

Thank you. does anyone know how i can access the other threads about this?

Is the mini-golf an extra fee? We saw the pics and while my kids would love it, it doesn't appear to be worth a lot of extra $$. KWIM?

Hershey tickets are best bought at Giant Food Stores. That is your best discount. Take advantage of the free preview, you get in free the night before your visit for the last 2-3 hours before close. Coaster lines are down by then. Also, Giant and Pepsi do an annual free ticket giveaway. Buy something like 30 20 oz's at Giant and send in a form to get free ticket, I think the max is 2 per household. Giant also did a special last year where you got a free ticket with every $50 spent in store on certain products (I think it was a lot of Kraft stuff, if I recall). Those vochers printed out at the register, so no wait on the mail-in forms. If you are not near a Giant these would be tough, but worth looking into. Many locals around here get the vouchers and sell them on Ebay and Craigslist. Also, if you come for the Springtime in the Park you can get BOGO tickets via signing up for the Hersheypark Fan Club, just google it. Don't do it yet, though, as they are stil promo'ing the Christmas event that is long over!!

We stayed at Marriott Residents Inn. We love those....they feed you! ;)

We were there two days and got a one bedroom with a kitchen.

I live in Harrisburg which is 20 minutes from Hershey!!! I have gotten a season pass every year because I watch kids over the summer and we go almost everyday. Definitely DO NOT pay full price for a ticket. Giant food stores offer pretty good deals on discounted tickets and there is one right on 39 near the park. As far as hotels I'm not sure because I live there so I don't know of any I could recommend.

Harrisburg Senators games are located on City Island in the city of Harrisburg which is about 30 minutes from Hershey (not far at all). City Island offers batting cages, a nice mini golf course, a train, a carousel, and various playgrounds. It is a really nice place. I especially like the mini golf course.

I don't know if you've done this yet but the trolley ride at Chocolate World is really good! Very interesting and educational and you get chocolate throughout the ride. The new Hershey museum opened last summer which offers a make your own chocolate experience, very fun and educational as well. Also, Hershey gardens is beautiful to walk around!

As far as restaurants near by, Houlihans is very close (right next to the museum) and there is a red robin at the Hershey outlets.

If you have any questions about the area or anything else let me know!!!

I'm thinking about stopping here on our way to Fl. in Dec. Not interested in the amusement park, but I'm wondering what else is there to do that time of year, obviously indoors. :)

As far as I know it is not an extra fee. We stayed at Mainstay once, but we did not play. I saw several people playing, so I doubt it was an extra charge.

Hershey does this thing called Sweet Lights where you ride in your car and listen to Christmas music and look at all the lights. My room mate in college and I did this for the first time this last Christmas and I always thought it would be lame so I never did it but we loved it!! It is a definite must if you are in Hershey over the Christmas season.
