Hotel, hotel hotel, Please help us!

Hi,

My family and I are going to Disneyland for the first time. There will be 4 adults and 3 kids. We are on a major budget and don't care much about the hotel being really nice, but we still want something that is decent.

We have bought the Southern California city pass, because I really wanted to do Sea world and the zoo.

At this point this is our schedule:
Check in Anaheim somewhere: July 31 - Aug 4th.
San Diego: Aug 4th - Aug 7th
Anaheim: Aug 7th - Aug 9th

I know we are last minute, but we need to find some sort of accommodations. Can anybody on here give us some good pointers, hints, comments or suggestions for super budget hotels, where to look or search for them.

Anybody try priceline? What should I be on the lookout for?

We are driving so I need some place that has free parking, but I don't mind being a little further away from Disney. Any suggestions there?

The only thing we really want is a pool?

Is there anybody on here that has any good websites they use for hotels? I found the Ent price for HoJo, but they only offer those on the dates listed? Right? There is no point in calling and seeing if they can do those prices for the whole trip?

Anyway, if anybody can help, I will be very very grateful...

Check Getawaytoday.com you can even get the City Pass through them, though I don't know if it is any cheaper. It'll at least give you a jumping off point to availability. I've never used Priceline, so I can't help there.

Priceline is pretty good, I would recommend it. Getawaytoday I too am going to suggest for tickets as their pricing is very good. But if your looking into hotels I am going to suggest once again "Getawaytoday" I found the secret here, the prices are decent on this site, and their prices go down every single Wednesday but just for the day. My friend recently stayed at the Park Vue Inn. Its directly across the street from the Main Entrance of Disneyland, it has a pool and everything. Cant tell you about parking, but its on the cheaper side and is super convenient.

People recommend calling HoJos directly and speaking with In-House Reservations. There is a phone number and names of the 2 ladies at HoJos they recommend you speak with.

Another tip, always call the hotel directly and ask for in-house reservations. You can sometimes get cheaper rates directly through personal contact over the phone than on the website. But make sure you have done your research and know what they are charging online and what some of the other websites offer.

Suggestion. After checking those 'online' bargins,checked the hotel website,and just for grins and giggles call the hotel directly. No 800#s
Last time I was there,I got a quote from 'priceline' (or one of those) of $93.00 for the Alpine Inn. Went to their website,their rate was $87.00. So just for laughs I rang them up. $68.00,all inclusive.Ding,ding,ding,we have a winner. Saved $50.00 for 15mins work. Do yourself a BIG favor,write down 'everything',time and date you called. Persons name you talked to,then staple it to your monitor.

We just stayed at the ramada maingate across from Disneyland- the pool was the highlight of this hotel- it is saltwater, and huge- and went from 18 inches deep at one end to 8 ft deep at the other- with a zig zag pattern so there was lots of space. We booked one of their 3 room family units- (we had 4 adults and 1 child) the 3 room family unit was a 2 room suite with 2 queen beds, kitchenette(micro, fridge, toaster, cofee, kitchen sink, ) and a goodsized bathroom and then a connecting room that had a double bed, and another bathroom (and another coffee pot) also there were 3 tvs...The rooms with the queen beds were very roomy, so depending on the ages of the kids, you could easily put down some air beds/sleeping bags and have plenty of room for everyone. There was free parking, and free continental breakfast at this hotel. The family units are in the older part- so are not the best, but are still clean, and very functional for as little time as you actually spend in the room- and being across the street was nice- as we just walked back and forth each day and came back for afternoon swims...

Don't forget to ask for your first visitor button. You can request such at City Hall, as well as other locations.

Fast passes are a very good thing to have. For it really can save one time, and it can be used beyond the time stamp. Matter of fact, it is good for the entire day, for the same day.

One can find an economy class property for as low as $44.00 a night plus 15% hotel tax and no charge for parking, with pool:

Regarding parking, that is another aspect to be aware of. For some properties will charge for such, even if you do not have a car. I almost could not believe that, when I read that information, on this site. Then there are those properties, that will only charge for such, if you actually have a car. I always like to see which business's do not charge for parking, amongst other things.

You might want to check out Anaheim Desert Inn www.anaheimdesertinn.com or Anaheim Plaza Hotel www.anaheimplazahotel.com. Both are older hotels, but are in decent shape and are very reasonable. Bonus is they are within close walking distance. Anaheim Plaza Hotel has a very nice pool. Desert Inn is smaller, but indoors.

We stayed at the Super 8 on Katella and while I had a few issues with them (no fridge when we had requested one, clock that didn't work), it was a good deal and decent hotel. It was $50/night during spring break. They had a pool that was just sort of in the middle of the parking lot so nothing fancy but it was a pool. They also have a free breakfast. Again, nothing fancy there either but it was food and it was free (i brought my own Cheerios though and just used their milk and bowls). Also, the hotel wasn't super close to DLR but it was close enough to walk and didn't take us too long (15-20 min). And it's right next door to the Gardenwalk.
