Hotel Hopping?

We are staying at RPH for a week in April for a business meeting that my DH and I must attend...
we have never been to Universal or the hotels and are very excited!
We are bringing our kids because we don't have anyone for them to stay with that long. Is there enough for all of us to do at US/IOA and the resort for a week? We really didn't want to go outside of the area since we've done Disney so much and want to keep our budget controlled and since we will be in and out of meetings. If you are staying at one of the resorts, can you use the other hotel's pools? Anyone have any suggestions of keeping us busy for that long on site? Any info. and ideas would so be appreciated!

you can pool hop at the other 2 hotel pools. universal encourages it.

how old are your kids?
are they old enough/teens where they do not need parental supervision?
