I know nothing about the hotels around DL. I do know about the Disney hotels but I'm afraid that they are out of my budget right now. I'll be driving from Phoenix and will have a car but I'd prefer to be close enough to walk to DL. As long as it is safe, I wouldn't mind up to a mile or so walk each way. I'm interested in inexpensive but I want something clean and nice. I'd pay a bit more for clean rather than just cheapest, if you know what I mean. Thanks for any suggestions you can give. I'll do the research if you can just give me a list of places you know about that are good hotels at a good price.

I would really recommend getting a copy of the Unoffical Guide to Disneyland 2002 by Bob Sehlinger. It has a lot of tips on just about everything concerning Disneyland. And it also has a section about the hotels close to Disneyland. What I thought was really neat was a map of the area close to Disneyland with each hotel marked as to location. He also includes his own ratings of the hotels as well as a list of the 30 best deals. A lot of the hotels have shuttles to Disney, but with the map layout you can figure out which ones are closer to the walkway into Disneyland. Having never been there myself I've been reading as much as I can on the boards such as here. There's also great information at mouseplanet.com. Mouseplanet.com has discussion boards like this one. Another site is mousesavers.com. Like I stated at the beginning I would also recommend the Unofficial Guide book. I've never been to Disneyland, but I was in Walt Disney World just over a year ago and I found his Unofficial Guide to Disneyworld invaluable. Hope this was helpful. As to specific hotels perhaps some others can post their favorites.

ps I believe there are package deals available for the "Good Neighbor" hotels that include the park hoppers through AAA or Disney. Some have suggested checking out Getawaytoday.com for package deals.

Hi we've stayed at several of the smaller hotel/motel/inn across the street from DL within minutes on Harbor Blvd! (map in Unofficial guide mentioned earlier) Depends on the time of year you can get great rates by looking at the hotel's direct website and comparing with travelocity or expedia.com.

These are the hotels we've stayed at, basic room, no extras, clean and very, very, close to everything DISNEY and food/restaurants. First choice for price, location, has always been Tropicana. They aren't perfect but very convenient and this is the first year we've used Priceline for DL and excited to get a 3* hotel after all these years spending more using Disney Travel and after 1997 booking online, no more packages!

1990 - Carousel Inn and Suites
1991 - Disney World Comfort Inn Buena Park
1992 - Tropicana Inn
1993 - formerly the Ramada now the Fairfield Inn
1994 - Tropicana Inn
1995 - Tropicana and Best Western Stovall's Inn
1996 - Disney World All Star Music Resort
1997 - Tropicana
1998 - Best Western Park View Inn
1999 - Park Inn International (very nice, jacuzzi tub, refrigerator, large spacious rooms)
2000 - Carousel Inn and Suites (now standard rooms have refrigerator and microwave)
2001 - Hilton Anaheim & Towers - farther walk but possible with parking tram use, or shuttle available - worth the distance for a bigger room and nicer hotel (first time used Priceline for DL only $45 a night week of Christmas and New years!!!!)
Disney World 2002 !!!!!

I always recommend this place. It's just across from Disneyland's main gate. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The sevice is always exceptional and it's a very affordable price.

Fairfield Inn. We have stayed there twice. It is clean, service is very good, and in 5 minutes (walk) You are at the front gates. The shuttle bus is not worth the wait here. Last summer we got a $69.00 park view room.

Down Harbor about a mile from Disneylad is the Anaheim Marriott... It is an absolutely wonderful place to stay... I would sacrifice distance for this Hotel since the services and accomodations are virtually everything you could ask for... You really do not have to worry about the walking either since it provides it's own private shuttle... :)

Good luck in your search!!!

We've stayed there several times for $40 a night using priceline and the Hilton for $50 a night. You can also walk to the Lion King parking area through the convention center walkway and catch the tram to the main gates. My kids loved doing this - one of the best parts of their day!
