I have never stayed in the area, but I can recommend a few chains that have ALWAYS met or exceeded my expectations...
Nice rooms, fairly good amount of ammenities, almost always an indoor pool- Courtyard by Marriott. Prices are between $75-$100 per night, but imo, are some of the nicest properties within the price bracket.
If you are looking for a cheaper place, I suggest Holiday Inn Express. They have free breakfasts, pools at most locations and no frills, clean properties. Rates are between $60-$80 per night, which I also think are fairly reasonable for the quality recieved...
If you can find a larger area (possibly Maretta, GA, which is just north of DT Atlanta) you might be able to snag a cheap room on Priceline. Ive had luck to get 3 star Doubletree Suites and Radisson's around the country for around $35 per night, a sweet deal....
