Hi Everyone,

I’m looking through all the numerous posts about pretty much the same thing but was hoping if I posted what I needed exactly some friendly DIS’rs could point me in the right direction.

In December me, my mom and aunt are going to Las Vegas. And due to a good deal on a flight were flying into San Diego for exactly 24 hours. We’re doing this as my mom has always LOVED panda bears and this was a fairly good deal to go see them.

So right now we are flying in on Dec 13 at 7am and flying out the next morning at 7:15am. Our plan is to head to whatever hotel we are going to stay at, drop of our bags and head straight to the zoo foe the whole day its open (9-5) And then head back to the hotel to relax and have a nice dinner

I’ve been looking at tons of hotels through expedia and even through the zoo’s website. Some hotels look really nice and are even right on the water, but then the reviews are so-so. It seems San Diego’s hotels are all either super cheap and scary looking or super expensive.

Since there are 3 of us we are willing to spend a little more as the cost can be divided, and we actually like the idea of staying right on the water so at least we can enjoy the view that night and just relax. (the few we’ve been considering are about 200-250 US or we had a few just over 300 but they included zoo tickets for 3)

So our goal right now is to find some hotels that have been given the DIS stamp of approval. Since were only there for a day we can’t be bothered to rent a car so it will be cabs/ and or shuttles for the trip. So we’d like it to be within a reasonable cab fare from the zoo/airport. We’d also like it to be self contained. Meaning having a few restaurants inside (somewhere in between fast food and fine dining)

Any help is really appreciated!

The Embassy Suites is right down near the waterfront area and Seaport Village. Lots of restaurants around there and the Gaslamp Quarter area. Also, not too far from public transportation. Buses go right near the main entrance to the zoo.

Thanks, that looks like a gorgeous hotel.... May be a tad more then what we are willing to pay though.. but it's on our list of options for sure.

Now just researching things in the past hour we've decided renting a car would save us money. So now were not as concearned about transportation. More about the hotel itself and being easy direction wise (but most on the wetarerfront seem to be)

Any one else have some that they have stayed at?

You'll love it there!

It's 13 miles from the Zoo, but you'd probably rather be situated just a few miles from the airport since you have an early morning flight out. Cab would be quick from the airport, but you'd have to use the hotel concierge to book you a zoo trip/tour if you don't rent the car. Not sure about a parking charge at the hotel. Hope you can find a good rate for your dates! "One Enchanted Evening" package sounds good!
