Hotel for 6 close to Disney?

We have four children and are planning on going to Disney 10/4-10/8 of this year. Last time we stayed at the Paradise Pier and were underwhelmed, but we've since had another baby and we have too many people to stay in one room at any of the Disney hotels. We don't mind staying off site but would like to be fairly close so that we could walk back to the hotel if one of the kids needs a nap or something. Non-smoking is a must, and we prefer to have all of us in one room (meaning just door to the outside hallway, not two adjoining rooms). Any suggestions?

We have done Best Western Park Place Inn (BWPPI) a few times with four kids. Their mini-suites have two queen beds and a roll-out queen. Also a mini-fridge and a microwave. Plus it is the closest walk to the parks of any hotel aside from the GCH.

You have to at least consider Desert Inn & Suites right across the street for a larger family...

Dessert Inn is right next door to BWPPI. You may want to check rates for both, as the 2 minute walk differential is insignificant. Also, I believe both offer room configurations on their respective sites, so you can see what would work best for you.

Not sure if BWPPI offers two bathrooms in their family suites, but I do know Dessert Inn family suites are basically two connecting rooms so you have two bathrooms.

I think both offer microwaves and refrigerators in the rooms, so I would definitely check out both of those options.

I would do HoJo's. It seems to get the best reviews as far as off-campus hotels go.

Camelot, Tropicana, & Carousel Inn all have suites. You might want to also compare pricing for them. All of the properties mentioned up to now are across the street, and within walking distance.

When I go online to HoJo the drop down only goes up to three children. Does it matter that our youngest will not even be a year? Their ages in October will be 7, 4, 2, and 10 months. I could just omit the baby from the reservation, but I don't feel that is honest.

I am interested in answers to this question too. We also have four kids and are trying to figure out: suites, walking distance, AND the free breakfast.
I'm not trying to hijack your post, but just letting you know that us families of six are few and far between!

The six of us have always stayed at the RI Maingate. Hot breakfast, free grocery shopping,
less than 1/2 mile.

We've stayed in the KidSuite and it is nice for the extra space, but since you specifically mentioned the outside hallway door, you should know that the outside hallway door is in the Kids portion of the suite, and there is a connecting door between the 2 sections of the suite. There is only one door to the outside hallway, but it's in the kids side. There's also an outside balcony on each side of the suite, to the kids would also have access to the outside balcony. Not a concern for us because our kids are older (10 & 13), but it could be with younger kids. The safety-lock on the exterior door I'm pretty sure would be above the height where kids could undo themselves, so they'd probably have to be pretty persistent (i.e. stand on a chair) to "break out" and get to the outside hallway. If you're concerned about the balcony door, I'm pretty sure that it was a standard round door-knob so you could bring a child-proof doorknob cover.
