Hotel Discounts & Other Perks with Annual Pass

We are planning a trip in June 2020. Just myself and two kids, age 14 and 11. We are going for 10 days. We normally get park hoppers and the photo pass, and stay on property. I was looking into the Annual Pass for just myself. I have never had one before. I know as far as ticket price alone it may not be the better option for savings, but I am interested in the dining and room discounts. Is there a list of what restaurants offer AP discounts? Are there AP discounts on rooms year round at most of the resorts or does it vary? How much are the discounts normally? Also would I be able to book rooms with the AP discount prior to activation, since I can't do that until we arrive? We are planning just this trip but have been going every year for the last few years, so if I do purchase the AP and we end up going in 2021 I would plan to go before it expires. So there is a possibility of more savings then, but since that is not definite I am not factoring that into my decision. It would just be a nice bonus! I appreciate any advice and info!

For booking WDW AP rates you can book them without an AP as long as you get your AP/activate it on check-in day. You will have to call to book. If you need the room discount to justify the AP wait to purchase until you book an AP rate. Disney has been stingy with WDW AP rate availability lately.
