Hotel confirmations

With two weeks to go, should I be contacting all our hotels and confirming reservations? Or would they contact me? I do have emails from them all confirming at the time of booking.

Hhmm on that do I need to ring up and confirm flights too?

I am going to email/phone everyone on Monday to confirm reservations. Probably don't have to as I have reservation/confirmation numbers for everything but I will feel better knowing we have somewhere to sleep when we land.

well - i have to admit I have never bothered. With Disney you can of course check in on line ten days in advance - so that's done :thumbsup2
Airlines give you online viewing access to the booking, so that should be fine.
I suspect where you have used online booking engines (like wotif) is where problems could arise.
So perhaps I have been lucky - There will be someone who has experience and some learnt lessons to share!

Sme reservations are made direct with. The hotel, a few are thorugh hotels.com. Can't hurt to confirm I suppose!

i don't confirm airlines (but i do check to make sure the times haven't changed) but i do confirm all hotels and transport etc just to make sure.

glad i did this as mears in MCO had lost their record of our pick up, and DLR express had forgotten our pick up from DLR back to LAX, so was very glad i called them 24 hours prior to our pick up to ensure we were on the schedule.

i say confirm. it can't hurt and you will feel reassured :)

I've never bothered and have always been fine - I do take printed confirmations with me just in case. You do read reports sometimes of people fronting up to a hotel and finding no booking but I don't think it happens often :confused3

I've booked through Booking.com and Expedia.com and have never had any problems but haven't used Hotels.com though.

For the hotels, make sure you print your email confirmations, but I wouldn't bother calling. If there is a mix up, your confirmation will help.

As for flights, I would start checking now and continue until the day of your flight. I once had a flight canceled, and they rescheduled us for a day later. And they do not contact you when they do this. It is your responsibility. Lucky for me I checked it on line a month early by chance and discovered the change. Then we had to fix it and get the flight we needed.

If you have an email confirmation at time of booking, you probably don't need to check unless you particularly want to.

I normally bring a print-out; but most times I'm just asked for my name and for the CC I booked with.

As a rule I don't bother if I have booked directly with hotel but I always ring the hotel direct to confirm if I book via an 3rd party engine (expedia etc):goodvibes

Off course you should, at least for hotels, about airlines and all they will contact you about any issue.
