Hotel close lax airport

Last year we stayed at hyatt place el segundo .... Nice but no restaurants close by

We arrive at 1pm lax time and fly out 8.25 am the next day

So where would you recommend that close but within walking distance restaurants/Walmart

I stayed here last year on West Century Boulevard http://www.travelodgelax.com/ its right beside a Dennys and has a shuttle to LAX.

There are a few hotel on West Century Boulevard like Hilton Los Angeles Airport, Los Angeles Airport Marriott , The Westin Los Angeles Airport, check it out on Google maps.

About 15 minutes from LAX. At the Travel Lodge, you book the shuttle time, so I would tell them you want to leave the hotel at 5am, cant see it being a problem. Are you flying international or domestic? Domestic is usually 2 hours in advance, international is 3 hours, so getting the shuttle at 6am should be fine

There's been several days lately where LAX has advised allowing extra time for security, traffic or construction. A 6am hotel departure will likely be too late for an 8am flight. You won't find a WalMart within 20 miles of LAX. What do you need at Target? There is a Walgreens in El Segundo, if it's something else that wouldn't be at a Walgreens you'll likely have to look even farther away.

Then Travel Lodge is your best option Im from Ireland and I get the whole Walmart thing, lol, my American friends find it hilarious that out of ALL the tourist things to do I ask them to bring me to Walmarts Dennys is also another one my places to visit, which is why I picked the Travel Lodge. A 5am hotel departure will be fine, thats giving you 30 minutes to get to the airport, even if you get to Tom Bradley at 5.45am, you will still be fine.

All of the hotels along Century are more or less equal in many ways. The closest ones will be Courtyard by Marriott, Sheraton, Crowne Plaza, Embassy Suites, Residence Inn and Marriott. There is no reason to cross Aviation for a motel near a Denny's where there are 20 or more hotels on Century and many have restaurants in them that are just as good if not better than Denny's. Many are also right next to rentals car locations. You could drop your bags at the hotel, rent a car, drive to WalMart or Target, have dinner, return the car and be right next to LAX the next morning to take a shuttle.

That may be true, but you are looking at this as an American. I'm not sure of the OP situation, but budget may be a factor. The Travel Lodge may not be your choice of hotel, but for someone on a budget who just needs an overnight before an international flight of 10+ hours, its ideal.

I'm not looking at it as an American, I'm looking at it as a local who plans travel regularly as part of my job for people coming and going from all over the world. I've noticed that you tend to only recommend the way you do things and put down the advice of others who go the places that you go more often than you do. The OP didn't ask for a motel, if you're going to recommend a Travelodge, especially after they said that they stayed at a Hyatt Place last time, it's only fair to tell them what they'd be getting into. And if the OP was looking for a motel, I think it's only fair to mention that Travelodge often costs almost as much as some of the lower end hotels a block closer. If you're budget conscience, either of the Super 8s are likely a better choice. Going south to El Segundo would also put you within 10-15 minutes if you stay near Sepulveda, and has many more advantages than crossing Aviation.

We stayed at a motel right across from the rental cars, I think it was Budget. Nice motel but not nice enough to remember the name. Worked out great for us to return the car and walk across the street to motel. It had a shuttle for our early morning flight. Price was reasonable (under $150 or less) for the location
It may be an idea to rent a car for a few hours if you're not too tired. You could do your trip to Walmart and maybe a drive to the beach. The rental cars are all off-site and the shuttles continuously circle the airport.

I would never stop for the flag retreat unless someone in my party wanted to see it. On the other hand, several non-Americans on this board have shown interest in seeing it because they are interested in it as a cultural difference. Many people, American and European and others travel places and either respect local customs or choose to view certain ceremonies or observances that would otherwise have no meaning to them.

How does any of this relate to the Travelodge not being the only option the fulfills that OPs request for a hotel close to LAX?
