Hotel Cheyenne during refurbishments?

I'm planning my first DLRP trip for next year and trying to figure out where to stay -- the longer I think about it, the more likely it seems to me that I'll stay at Santa Fe or Cheyenne. I don't think I can swing Newport Bay or above tier-wise, and it seems to me like a waste of money to stay at Sequoia Lodge when I live in Montana and can go to the real thing for a lot cheaper.

I like the theming at Cheyenne better than Santa Fe, mostly because I'm not crazy about Cars, but it looks like Hotel Cheyenne is going to be undergoing room refurbishments through late 2017. It sounds like most of the hotel is still open, but can anyone who's been there since refurbishments started give me an opinion on how disruptive the work going on there really is?

The big thing I'm coming away with in looking at the DLRP hotels is that if I want to stay on site but can't fit one of the three most expensive hotels into my budget (and I really think I can't), I'm going to be staying in something themed to the American west regardless of what I choose. Does anyone care to make a case for Sequoia Lodge? I tend to value heavy themes over generic luxury when I'm at Disney, and like I said I can go to the kinds of places it's themed after right here at home.

The Hotel cheyenne is in 14 blocks and it is my understanding they are refurbing it block by block so they will have a block shut to guests while they do the work thus making minimal disruption.

I like the Sequoia lodge due to the swimming pool and you get seated for breakfast whereas the Cheyenne which is nice doesn't have a pool and you have to find your own seat for breakfast.

The advantage with staying onsite at DLP is that breakfast and park passes are included into the price. Have a look at different countries sites as the deals will vary between them. You can book under any deal regardless of where you live.
