Hi Everyone

We're going to Dlp in Sept (23rd-25th) with our 2 kids aged 5 and 2 for our honeymoon we're staying the cheyenne and with my hubby to be being a really fussy eater we've decided to eat at the restaurant at the hotel and maybe (depending if my daughter aged 2 is scared or not of the characters) having a meal at cafe mickey on the day we leave,

Has anyone been to stay at the cheyenne recently or ate at the chuck wagon?

do you have any pics?

What was it like?

I have had a look at the restaurant thread but theres no pics or prices etc

Thanks :thumbsup2

Hi. We stayed at the Cheyenne last October and it is a lovely hotel. The theming is wonderful (although there was so much to do in the Parks we didn't get to have a good look round the hotel!!!)

We ate at the Chuck Wagon and have to say that it was one of the best meals we had. There is alot of choice from soup and salad to ribs, chips, pasta, rice, chicken, cakes - loads of choice, even for a fussy eater!

I would say to eat early though (we ate around 6pm) as it does get very busy and I think it spoils your evening when you have to wait at every foodplate! Also, I'm not sure if you have to book reservations or whether you can just walk in. There was a thread on this a while back that said it's reservations only, so please check. We are going back in September and are definately going to eat here again.

I haven't been to Cafe Mickey so I can't comment on that, but I would wait until your daughter has seen the characters walking around the Parks and see how she reacts before booking.

I also read that Chuck Wagon was reservations only now, but that's no problem for you I think: if you're staying in the Cheyenne, I would just book in the morning (or upon arrival) with the hotel concierge.

We're going in August and staying at the Santa Fe Hotel, but if I can, I'll be going to the Cheyenne buffet as well instead of the Santa Fe buffet, seems to be (a lot) better.

I also read that the Cheyenne hotel is one of the hotels that appeals most to children- so with your little ones, buffet there should be great (but I haven't been there, so don't sue me!:rolleyes1).

Have a great trip!

we ate in the Chuck Wagon in the last week of June. we had an 8.15 pm reservation which was a mistake as the park had just closed and it was really, really busy but the food was lovely, lots of it and all hot. even though it was really busy the food didn't run out and was replenished very quickly. the ribs were good and the beef stew/goulash was very nice. my DD (8) who can be a bit scared of trying anything new managed to fill up on ribs, pasta, chips, rolls, and tried most of the puddings. there was plenty of space to sit and people cleaning/clearing tables regularly. i would eat there again if i stayed at The Cheyene . i'm sure you'll enjoy it just try and avoid the really busy times xx :)

OOOOHHHHHHH..... we will see you there!!
We are staying at the Cheyenne 20 - 26 th September. There will be 9 of us after convincing my Cousin and her Family to come along:cool1::cool1:

I'm also staying at the Santa Fe and was going to eat at the Chuck Wagon 1 night and La Cantina another. Is La Cantina buffet not as good in your opinion then??

Well I haven't been there yet, so it's just what I read - the overall impression of the Chuck Wagon (e.g. on dlpfoodguide) seemed more positive (the looks also) that that of La Cantina - but like I said, I haven't been yet (ask me again in 3 weeks!). I plan to take a sneak peek at both buffets if I can before deciding, haha

If you go to either La Cantina or the Chuck Wagon before the parks officially close, you'll be fine in both. They have a similar menu, and they are similar-sized restaurants. I've had a pretty awful meal at La Cantina at 8.30pm and a similarly pretty forgettable meal at the Chuck Wagon at around the same time.

I had a fab experience going to La Cantina just before park closing though - plenty of space, no queues around the buffet, and everything was fresh and piping hot. Both times I've eaten at La Cantina, we've been joined by Pluto and Goofy in the restaurant as well ;).

Thanks. We eat early anyway (around 6pm-ish) as our 5 year old doesn't like to eat late. I'll give it a go, but Suzanne1979, let me know what you think when you get back.

I've just returned from DLP and ate at both of these places :thumbsup2

The Chuck Wagon was great, hot and cold food and plenty of choice. My Dad loved it as he could just keep going back.....
It was fully replenished though be warned, as it's a buffet, be prepared for a few food stuffs that don't belong in that section. My daughter picked up a doughnut in the bread section and some veg in the dessert section, obviously dropped off of some one plate!! Was great food but I just wished you got more than one drink!

Cafe Mickey is great! Don't expect your kids to eat much though. We sat down at 12.00 and were still there at 2.15 - with my 5 year old still only half way through her burger. Those characters just kept on coming! One family had great fun with Friar Tuck taking their little bab over to the ice cream station and filling his pockets with SWEETS! Then took the woman's handbag and did the same to that. By the end of it they had six bags full of hundreds and thousands, jelly things and loads of wrapped sweets. Mickey gave him a real telling off and we couldn't stop laughing!

Beware of Goofy. I am now officially scared of him. He walked past a guy and took his plate away, stole someone's hat and took a drink from a guy just before he was drinking. He also kept walking away with chairs!! He was funny and the kids loved his "grumpy mood". Pluto though was magical, he kissed my daughter and you actually heard the kiss!!

I'll let you know how it was in Chuck Wagon/La Cantina, CityBlue :)

(and sorry if I was a bit vague in earlier posts, I read so much about DLRP restaurants EVERYWHERE that I forget if my opinion is just a hunch or based on "statistics"! A bit of both here, I think)

--13 days to go:woohoo:--
