Simple question.

If you had your choice, which hotel would you stay at and why?

We are looking at the Best Western Park Place Inn or the Candy Cane Inn. We chose the BWPPI because of it's proximity to the park and we will be travelling with a 3 yr old and a 6 yr old.

The Candy Cane Inn is the option because a friend of ours said she really liked that one.

One other thing as I see it, if we do the BWPPI we are doing it "on our own" and not through Disney, but the Candy Cane Inn will be through Disney. So transfers to and from the hotel will play a factor too.

So we are turning to the experts to help us with our decision. The price difference is really negligible.

Thnx for your help!

Both good hotels but for me I would favour the BWPPI, it is closer (less than half the distance of CCI which is just over half a mile away). It also has bigger rooms which may be important if a family of four.

I would choose CCI. Rooms, pool, staff, and CCI exclusive shuttle is awesome no need to walk.

Hmmm.....tough call. :confused3 however, I vote BWPPI.
Either way you'll be happy, but here's my 2 cents:

This past summer we stayed 3 nights at the CCI and 3 nights at the Park Vue Inn which is right next door to the BWPPI.
While I loved the CCI and it is more upscale than most hotels around, I would pick the one closer, and for you that is the BWPPI. Here are some reasons why:
* travelling with kids we eat out of the park, so family restaurants like Mimi's and Millies and the all important McDonalds are a 3 minute walk away.
* no waiting for buses at the end of the night
or timing your exit out of the park
* forgot something? Just run across the street.
* we just sleep and rest at the hotel, primary activity is DL, both hotels are clean and have same amenities like pool, H tub, and free breakfast
* no microwave at the CCI in the rooms, just fridge and coffeemaker
* we book Supershuttle for transfers online which saves a little $

BUT
* if you are taking some days off to spend at the hotel, choose CCI. You'll forget you are in the middle of a city for a bit.

Good luck!
let us all know who the winner is........:rolleyes1

We are only going to be there for 2.5 days so time off from the parks is not going to be an option. Pretty much the room(s) is just going to be a place to sleep and to hold our stuff.

In previous trips we stayed at:
Penny Sleeper
Disneyland Hotel
Castle Inn

The proximity of BWPPI (right across the road - correct?) is the real drawing card for that hotel as it isn't a big deal to cross the street to get to our room. But like I said my friend is really pushing for the CCI and the fact if we go with the CCI we can book through Disney (and get the perks) is a drawing factor.

Thnx to everyone who has replies already. I didn't realize picking a hotel was going to be this difficult. :)

I vote for the CCI as well!
We LOVE it there. Not to mention you get the Disney booking perks. The shuttle is very good and the walk is not bad, even with a stroller. :snail: :cool1:

If getting the perks through Disney is important (it was for us) then you can also book BWPPI through Disney. Not sure of the cost difference versus booking ala carte, but in our case any extra cost was worth the TTMM and show tickets.

I think I am missing something. Why could you not book BWPPI through Disney? They are a good neighbor hotel. Are you not booking them through WDTC because it is cheaper to book on your own?

The only reason that I ask is because I am staying there in Nov and booked through WDTC and I after checking, checking, and then checking again :rolleyes1 I found it was cheaper to book our package (this time anyway) through Disney.

I know, wonders never cease!! I did book through Costco and got 4th night free, so that may be what is tipped the scales for me on this one. Since you are in Canada, I don't think you have a Costco, but have you checked CAA? I know that their packages are usually fairly competitive.

Good luck in your search!

We really like the BWPPI. The location can’t be beat, and while it is no luxury hotel it has always been clean and the service good. If you don’t need the hotel for much more than just a place to sleep and keep your stuff safe, then it is fine.

I do have to say that we have never stayed at CCI. It sounds like a great place, and if you are going to spend much time in the room or at the pool, it might be a better place to stay

Our travel agent said she couldn't get BWPPI through Disney for the dates we want.

When the dates first came available I booked the room at BWPPI thinking that was where I wanted to stay and just did it "a la carte". Basically I kept checking the hotel website and as soon as the dates became available I grabbed my credit card and booked.

Now my travel agent is saying the dates don't come up (possibly booked up) and a friend of mine (plus the travel agent) are suggesting CCI. We are just trying to figure out if we should stick with our "a la carte" booking with BWPPI and do all the ticket purchasing and such ourselves or switch to the CCI and do it through our travel agent through Disney.

You should try through AAA or Costco websites if you are a member. Just because it doesn't show up on Disney reservations doesn't mean that it is booked up. The ones that Disney has to sell might be gone but other travel agencys might have more rooms available.

One thing I have noticed about BWPPI is they seem to have different rooms available depending on which way you try to book them. When I tried to make arrangement to stay over much of the Thanksgiving week, rooms that were available on-line for certain days were not available when I called in and vice-versa. For one of their minisuites, Sun – Tuesday was available on-line, but Wed & Thursday were not available. Over the phone it was almost exactly opposite, Sun & Mon were not available but Tues – Thursday was (although Tuesday was a different price). The exact dates and room type I wanted were available on Travelocity & Getawaytoday.com, but not on other sites such as Expedia, Hotwire, Orbitz, etc. I ended making the reservations for the exact dates and room type we wanted though Travelocity.

I would choose BWPPI over CCI. I've never stayed at CCI but the proximity of the hotel to the parks would encourage me to choose BWPPI. I would also suggest the Tropicana and/or the Park Vue. Those are the 3 hotel closest to the parks and trust me, when you're leaving at night you want one that's really close! LOL

I've stayed at the Tropicana and BWPPI, both were nice, very comparable IMO. Good luck!!

Thnx to everyone who responded!!

We decided to stick with the BWPPI and we did manage to get the Disney perks with it as well. So all is good!!

Now we just have the waiting to do ...
