Most of the better hotels we stay in have really nice bedding, specifically a thin pillowtop inside a fine quality, white duvet cover. It just screams comfort.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? (Do the words I've used make sense? :)) If so, where can we buy the pillowtop and duvet cover that the hotels use?

The large hotels usually offer their bedding for purchase, either online or through a catalog in the room.

Here are some choices for you. Hope it's what you're looking for:

Yes, I've seen these sites before, but remarkably, they do not offer what the hotels themselves place on top of their beds -- the bedding that you sleep under -- the sites show comforters, when that is not what the hotels use.

I suspect there is some reason why they put one thing on their beds, but sell something else, but I cannot imagine what it is. (They need to use what they use, so that they can wash the top and bottom between each guest.)

But regardless, we really want to replicate what they actually put on top.

Most of the hotels we have been in lately seem to have a well padded mattress cover. I haven't take the bed apart to check exactly but you can usually find them in linen stores/departments. You could also try a feather bed topper or something similar. You could also try the foam toppers with a nice mattress pad over that. DD has this set up on her bed and it is very comfy.

Here you go- Starwood sells the duvet and the duvet insert found in their hotels (Sheraton, Westin, W, etc)

Yup, that's what we're looking for, but we're hoping to find it priced lower. That might not be reasonable, though.

We're not concerned about what we sleep on top of -- we've got that well-handled. We're looking for what Poohlovr pointed out:

This gets put either between two fine white sheets, or inside a duvet cover:

Total for the set (this is just the bits that you sleep under) is $565.

We've got the duvet cover already, so we're just looking for a great price on the duvet.

Ok, I misunderstood-you can find those pretty much everywhere. We have them on all of our beds. I think I got them at Shopko (like Walmart, KMart) for around $40 on sale.

Well, I recently read a tip for clothing - search by name and ebay (e.g. Bob Mackie silk top ebay) to find better deals than buying directly. You could try that with the bedding - say, Starwood duvet ebay.

Um..... you know they don't wash the top comforter.... right :scared1::sick:

They aren't selling used bedding. And I doubt that Bicker wants to buy used bedding, so no worries there about whether anything is washed or not.

I loved the pillows at the Yacht Club. I still haven't found them outside of WDW and I've tried.

I love the look and feel of the top duvets at Swan and DOlphin etc... but with two cats who think they can go wherever they want in the house, and a grandson who climbs up on my bed every morning to kiss grandma awake white just won't cut it.
Has anyone seen these in darker colors?

I think the piece you are looking for is a down blanket, slipped into a nice duvet cover. The down blanket is much lighter and compact than a down duvet or comforter, which often is what we would use at home. Just google down blanket.

That's really the magic of this stuff... it isn't a comforter. It is just a pillowtop, basically enclosed between two sheets, which they actually do wash. That ick factor is probably why this sort of thing came about.

I couldn't figure out how to multi-quote on different pages, but....

To the person who said that Bicker isn't looking to buy used bedding - I KNOW THAT :lmao: I just ment that obviously shes USING the bedding in hotels - thats now she knows its so comfy - and it doesn't get washed.

To this quote, yes, the duvet gets washed, but the down inside doesn't - and that just skeeves me out!!! Sorry, maybe its just me, but I hate staying in hotels because of it... Love going away, hate sleeping away!

I bought one recently at Kohl's. It was around $50, but I think it's one of the lesser expensive ones. They sold some that were alot more than $50. Mine's ok, but I wish I had purchased a nicer one.

That's a really important metric. I know we've often economized on certain things, and regretted the miserliness later.
