Hotel Availability for FD

Hi. I know that it can be difficult to get rooms during FD. That is not what I am asking. I am wondering why some hotels are saying they are not available for the offer. I have seen the list of exclusions and I am talking about resorts and rooms not on that list. Is there a glitch in the system or is that the system's way of saying that all of the rooms at the discount rate are gone? Thanks!

is that the system's way of saying that all of the rooms at the discount rate are gone?
This. A resort can have 1,500 rooms, but Disney might only make 100 of them available for FD. When they're gone, they're gone. Just like trying to cash in frequent flier miles for a free flight. The airline might only allocate 4 seats per plane, and then, not on every plane.

I understand that when they are gone, they are gone. I am asking if the system saying "this resort is not eligible for this offer" is because they are sold out. I am looking at the Yacht Club specifically and I know that it is eligible.

It means that the rooms are sold out for the offer (not that all the rooms at the hotel are full. Just the ones allocated for the offer). Disney only allocates a certain number of rooms for the offer (a very small number). With all the people that book first and hope for free dining later they release, less and less rooms for the FD promotion.

Try again tomorrow. Try online-not just trying to call.

Something I have noticed in the past with FD or other discounts is that I might see 0 availability for my exact dates, but I CAN get the deal for shorter or even longer stays at the same resort. Like if I really want the 1st-6th and it says "no availability" but I can get it for 2nd -6th or even 31st-6th.

I imagine there's a logic in the booking system that not only says when they're gone, they're gone, but potentially also requires your particular stay to be an exact fit for the available opening (I.e. Won't leave a 1 day open spot at beginning and a 2 day at end, but might allow a 3 day open spot to be left on either side)

There are certain resorts that are excluded completely, because Disney doesn't feel the need to discount them to achieve sufficient occupancy. Yacht Club isn't one of these. But even so, the number of rooms offered for the free dining promotion are limited (just because Yacht Club is eligible, doesn't mean the entire resort is discounted for every day of the promotion period.) If even one day of your stay isn't available with the promotion, the website will show the entire stay as unavailable. Promotion availability can also vary by date and by room type.

It should also be noted that the dates I am searching in September (24-30) has minimal rack rate rooms available. If there are so few "regular priced" rooms available there are certainly going to be that many less FD rooms available.

Hasn't that always been the case?

OP, they are trying to fill rooms in the resorts that need it. Some resorts might be more booked already than others.

What resort were you looking for? I heard this morning that a lot of the moderates sold out quickly. You really need to keep trying though because some people were booked already and will release their extra reservation. If Disney gets enough of those they might add rooms to the offer.
