Hi Guys,

We are hoping to take around £3,000 spending money (3 weeks) which is roughly $4,500. We don't have credit cards and have no plans to get any. We're planning on loading all of our spending money on our FAIRFx card. Now, on a previous thread I read that people were advising not to use your FAIRFx card to put against the room. Now, this is my theory:

With $4,500 loaded; if they take $1,500 for charging, this still leaves us with $3,000 for cash plus I can use the charging facility to use up the $1,500. So, becuase I'm loading the card with enough, I think i'm ok to add it to the room on check it.... AM I RIGHT?

I hope i've explained that ok?

Hi,

We've never used this type of card before but we had read that the FAIRFx card cost £9.95, but though the Travel Mail online they were offering a free FAIRFx card, so looked it up and here's the links to hopefully get a free card.

Also if the card is free maybe think about getting two cards, one each just in case.

There's a lot of good info on the following two web sites and the third link is where you register, good luck and have a wonderful holiday.

Hi I have used my fairfx card to check in many times and I have never had any trouble. I usualy have around £2000 on the card. I have also used up the$1500 limit on many occasions, the store then calls the resort and they charge the card and reset the limit back to $1500. Hope this helps

Have used this card the last twice and been very pleased plus can load it from the US from your bank account if you need to.I presume your staying onsite:confused3 Then you will hv free WIFI. I did hear of someone on here having an issue with the money being taken off and they did not spend any where near the amount and had no other source of income for the hols. We take TC some cash and the olf FFX card.We had the friends and family one as well so DB had his own card but attached to my account. If I were you I would get two cards for different accounts as a back up.Also if you go through topcash back or quidco you can get cashback on the card but not sure if it is free this way.

Yes, this is what I was reading about too. We are staying onsite at a deluxe which take $1,500 for KTTW. My theory is, though, that I am fairly sure that we would spend $1,500, so this initial "hold" wouldn't be a problem; I guess if we got up to this limit, they would hold a further $1,500 which "may" be a problem.....

You don't have to have a charge limit at all. We went and I just told them I didn't want the room charge facility so I didn't have one. No hold, no deposit, so you don't have to use that.

I loved fairfx, it was a fab card, but when something goes wrong they're rubbish, don't sort it out and customer service is awful. I lost $400+ just before my holiday and fairfx have never helped try to get it back (there's a thread of mine on here from 2009 about it).

I've since changed to the post office card. Rate isn't quite as good but it's on par with everywhere else and I know I can talk to someone face to face if anything goes wrong.

But your question, I had a fairfx card with fund on that I couldn't spare to be held, I just told them I didn't want credit, no issues at all.

We use our card and ask for a lower charge facility, we get max of 500 and dont really use it. Ut never had a problem with using our fairfx anywhere and had one now since 2008

I used mine to pay for my room and they just charged the cost of my room. No other charges went on it. I said no to the room charging facilities.
