Any ideas for an overnight stop for 6 people. On the way down we stopped in Charlotte. I think going home we'll stop earlier, like SC.

Any ideas? We are heading back this weekend. If not may be a drive through. Cheaper is better since we are spending all our money in Disney.

Stop either before you get off I-95 or plan on driving all the way to Rock Hill, SC or Charlotte. We have never had luck anywhere between Charlotte and Columbia. In my opinion, it is not a great area. Once while stopped, my husband was filling the tank and I walked over and he said, "Where is your mom?" with a funny look on his face. I said that she was stretching her legs by walking. He asked me to please find her and get everyone in the van...he had noticed that there were bullet holes in several of the vehicles that were parked in the surrounding area! To be honest, it didn't look like a bad area...or we wouldn't have stopped in the first place...lol! That was the last time that we stopped between Charlotte and Columbia, SC.
Now people don't flame me...we have tried stopping on that route a few times and it has always been a cruddy place to stop. So we just stop in Charlotte and then don't stop again until we get closer to 95.

I just stayed at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Elkin, NC which is farther up 77 closer to VA but it was very nice.

Hotels by the Highways 26/77 are kind of sketchy... Drive a little into Columbia, SC and stay in downtown. It is a nice place. We stay at the Hampton Inn Columbia Downtown Historic District.
