Hot tub accident

how awful, I have only heard of the accidents where things were stuck in the jets. We always let the kids play, of course we are always there and I have even played ;) in them too.
unfortunatly, being there cannot stop it. If it happens, it gets hold of you.. while you might save your child from drowning, you cannot stop the injury. From the way I read the story, it sounded if mom was not too far off. Like I said, I was somewhat quilty of it too. I let my kids in while I was there. However I did always tell them not to play in them. They are for relaxing, pools are for playing.. think twice before you let your kids play in a hot tub .. you don't want anything to happen to them...

submerged from 5 to 15minutes and he lived -how????

Disney has a age limit not to mention time limit.

I can be pretty bad which I see young children playing in the hot tub. I point out the sign to the parents. If they still ignore the warning and allow their children to play. I ask them if they can read....

that generally does it - they all leave.

People act like warning are to be ignored. Isn't hot water bad for brain development?

Looks like from the other thread he is OK...very lucky boy.

Some years ago, a teen girl was playing around swimming in one and her hair got caught. I believe that she drowned.

Not sure what exact law is, but there is new compliance about pool/spa drains for short term rentals, commercial property, and it was for new places and existing pools came in to comply at a later date. There had to be two drains instead of one and had to pull water in from sides of drain rather than top of drain. That is what we were told from a registered pool person. Not sure if existing private pools had to comply. This is the state of Florida, not sure of other states. Definitely a concern, though, and scary. Often times when we are in hotels we see little ones swimming, diving, and doing about anything in the spas with parents not supervising and staff not saying anything.
