hot seat at millionaire????

Jenny,

That's amazing that she was the last one to win. They had been averaging two winners a month and we were there almost two months ago now.

Congatulations on getting into the Hot Seat! You'll get 'em next time.

I think the answer has to do with copyright laws. On one trip, I suggested to a staff member that a large screen somewhere outside the attraction would be great, but she said it would never happen.

My 8 year old grandson has great plans for us to win the cruise. Since I seem to be lucky enough to get in the Hot Seat every trip the last few years he has determined to get in the HS with the FF and then ask for my help cause - "I know everything about Disney and grandma knows everything else". Poor child,is he is for a big disappointment one day. LOL

My take on why they do not televise the shows is the same reason they do not allow video or audio taping (not sure how they stop people with the phones etc nowadays). They do not want people doing extensive 'research' to better their chances of winning.

I met a family who had several members in the HS during our trip and they told me that they put some of their family members near the Phone a Stranger phone to increase their odds of getting a good answer if they use that lifeline. I do believe it would be easier to just pay for the cruise.

That sounds a bit like cheating to me. My family loves the show and we generally go to 10-20 shows each trip in part to get as many of us in the Hot Seat as possible, but we don't follow this practice. I have only been a Phone a Stranger once when someone I knew was in the Hot Seat and it was not planned. I knew she was at the park, but was shocked when the host "introduced" her to me on the phone. It didn't matter, I wasn't able to help her anyway.

wwtbamrob, I thought it were a bit nefarious as well but then I suppose those people who only get to go to DW once a year or, gasp, once every few years, feel that those of us, lucky few, who get to go several times a year have an edge also. (is so true)

I have to wing it as my dh was once asked a trivia question on what cigarette brand was named after an animal and in spite of the fact that he had smoked them for 54 years still could not come up with an answer.

There is really much luck involved as well as some skill because it really all depends on what questions you are asked.

Good luck on your next trip to the HS.

wwtbamrob, I live near Columbus. What part of the Hoosier state might you be from?

BTW, do you happen to play trivia online? If so might you tell me where I might find a game? I played with a group for over 4 years and it was wonderful but sadly, the host passed away a few months back. He cannot ever be replaced and Thrusday nights will never be the same but I am suffering from trivia withdrawal and am in sore need of a 'fix".

I'm in Southern Indiana, just a few miles from the Ohio River.

I have played some trivia on-line, but haven't done so in awhile. I enjoy playing NTN at restaurants. The problem is that the closest place for me to play that isn't a bar is about 40 minutes away. Similar games can be found at Buzztime's website. Other than that, I haven't found any good trivia games. Enhanced TV was great when WWTBAM was being run on ABC in primetime, but playing along on GSN's website with repeats of those episodes just isn't the same.

At the MGMStudios site, I have started running a Disney trivia game which you may enjoy. It isn't a "real time" game, but the people that participate seem to enjoy it. I post a game on Saturday or Sunday and then accept answers until the next Saturday. I try to mix it up to keep things interesting. We're currently up to Game 6, but all 6 of the games if you'd like to check it out. I will usually run Disney related games since the website is Disney themed, but I reserve the right to throw in any other type of trivia that I want. Think of it as my attempt to educate people so they'll do better in the Hot Seat at WWTBAM-PI! :)
