I am looking to make a meal with hot dogs as the meat. So type of meal in one...any thoughts?

There was huge thread on hot dog meals on budget board few weeks ago. I would do a search for it.

Wrap the hot dogs in crescent rolls and bake

Spit dogs and fill with cheese and bake

Beans and Franks(hot dogs)

slice and toss in crock pot with bar-b-q sauce and a little jelly.

1. Pigs in blankets (hot dog, slice of american cheese, wrapped in biscuit or croissant dough--either refrigerated or made from scratch)

2. We like to fix hot dogs and chili only serve them over hashbrowns instead of on buns

3. Five Guys Burgers & Fries has grilled hot dogs that they offer that taste great. Typical hot dog except they split (butterfly cut) them and grill them open and then serve them on buns with all kinds of toppings including cheese and bacon. They are so tasty! A little different twist....

I love sliced up hot dogs cooked in a skillet with saurkraut. It's not really a kid favorite though...

Sliced up hot dogs in mac/cheese
Sliced up hot dogs with ziti and sauce
Hot dogs and beans
Hot dogs and fries
Hot dogs wrapped in crescents
Sliced hot dogs sauteed with onions and potatoes

I have had this hotdog stew before it is really good.

Hotdogs, cut up peeled potatoes, spaghetti sauce, optional, red peppers and onions. Cook until potatoes are soft....ENJOY!!:):thumbsup2

My dd will only eat hot dogs one way. I split them in half and then cut the lengths into 3 so basically each hot dog give you 6 slices. Then I stick them in a pan and fry them up a bit with some Pam just for a minute or so to brown them. Then I throw some BBQ sauce in and warm up for a few minutes. Serve with rice or mashed potatoes and a veggie. Easy and cheap. No other method of hot dog cooking will cross her lips. I thought all kids liked hotdogs?:confused3

This is a favorite at my house. It's from the French's website. It's basically hot dogs stuffed with cheese and Durkee onions on top of potato casserole.

Stuffed Taters
Ingredients:
4 cups frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed

1 (10 3/4 ounce) can CAMPBELL'S® Cream of Celery Soup

1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

1 cup sour cream

1 1/3 cups FRENCH'S® French Fried Onions

6 frankfurters

Directions:
Heat oven to 400°F. In large bowl, combine potatoes, soup, 1/2 cup cheese, sour cream, 2/3 cup French Fried Onions. Spread mixture into 8 x 12-inch baking dish.

Split frankfurter lengthwise almost into halves. Arrange frankfurters, slit-side up, along center of casserole.

Bake, covered, for 30 minutes or until heated through. Fill frankfurters with remaining cheese and onions; bake, uncovered, 1 to 3 minutes or until onions are golden brown.

Cut a package of hot dogs into small slices, brown them, add a few ribs of cut up celery and some sliced onion and a can of diced tomatoes. Heat up and serve over rice. We used to eat that all the time when we were kids.

Cut a few slits on top of each hot dog and dip in BBQ sauce. Bake on 350 about 15 to 20 min. Serve with Mac & Cheese.

Throw the hot dogs in a big skillet with a couple tablespoons of butter. Warm them up a bit, and then add some eggs and a cup of cheese. My hubby LOVES this, and it's a perfect go-to meal when I have nothing in the house except eggs.. since I always have hot dogs in the freezer :thumbsup2

This recipe won my mother a newspaper award several years ago

1 Onion (Cut into small pieces)
Relish
Ketchup
1 Tbsp Mustard
Salt
Pepper
Garlic
Bay Leaves
Oil
½ to 1 Cup Rice
Water (twice as much water as rice)
Hot Dogs (cut up)
Salami (cut up)

Mix first 9 ingredients in a heavy pot. Saute until onions glazed (not browned)

Add the salami and hot dogs, stirring until coated.

Add the rice, stirring until all grains coated.

Add the water, mix, cover with medium-low heat until water is all absorbed. Lift cover and stir occasionally.

When done, shut off end enjoy. Note if any rice burns it adds to the flavor.
