I have been reading the boards and have come across posts about the hot dog and hamburger buns all being wheat now. Is it all of them or just some and do you at least have a choice of white or wheat? I understand that wheat is the healthier choice but I am one of those people who find wheat products vile:scared1: as well as having a medical condition that does not allow me to eat much fiber( I would miss most of my trip). Fortunatley, my kids and DH don't mind the wheat stuff, but I was just curious if I was going to be eating bunless burgers for a week. Thanks.

I don't know if you can get white or not.. every place that we ate at had the wheat buns (i.e. Casey's, Peco Bill, Food Court at All-Star Music). I believe even the crust on the pizzas have a wheat crust as well... at least the pizza I got at Pizza Planet at DHS did. It wasn't a big difference to me because I'm used to eating wheat products but my boyfriend and his parents were a little upset with it.. they said it changed the way the pizza tasted.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask about offering white buns though. :)

Disney, if you're reading this, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE switch back to white buns, or at least allow customers to have the choice between white and wheat!!! We go on vacation to temporarily forget about the troubles of our everyday lives, and on that note, we enjoy eating food that we are unable to get at home and splurge a bit on our regular diets too... sorry, rant over.

I was going to post this on a separate thread but I'll piggy back on this one.

YOU DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE ON THE BUNS AT DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!

Every single place has the "multi-grain" bun. Hot dogs and hamburgers. And there are no white buns available. I asked this three days ago while there.

I don't get it. Kids get a choice (well, parents do) on their meals. Healthy fruit or fries. Milk or a soft drink. Adults get shafted with the hot dog and hamburger buns.

I was there over Memorial Day weekend. My husband wanted so badly to get a hot dog. I said he could but I certainly was not going to. Those buns are absolutely horrible. Never mind the wheat thing (I hate wheat bread of any kind but I'm in the minority with that). The buns are dry and fall apart.

I hope Disney never tries to get into the Atlanta Braves (spring training games are played there). I can't imagine going to Turner Field and getting a baseball hot dog on a multi-grain dry bun that will fall apart before you get back to your seat.

Yes, I have written, emailed and now have a phone number directly to a person to complain.

To everyone who is as upset as I am, email Disney (the address I used is on their main site) and complain. And keep doing it.

Wow! You all are sure passionate about your buns. :rotfl2:

I was there this weekend and had the multi bun on the chili cheese dog at Cosmic Rays, DH had the burger. To be honest, I didn't even notice until half way through and then only b/c I had read about it here. DH didn't mind and typically he detests my nutty, whole grain Nature's own at home. To be fair, it's a very, very light wheat and it was just as squishy and soft.

I am so glad I am not the only one who hates wheat buns. I totally agree you should get a choice between white or wheat. It should be my decision to be healthful or not. OK Disney, time to make another change. I will definitely email them and let them know. Maybe if enough people complain they will change it.

I was at WDW a couple of weeks ago. The buns don't really taste bad, but they do fall apart. I got a BBQ sandwich at Pecos Bills and had to eat it with a fork. It was just plain gross! What will they do next???

I am a white bread type of person on my buns......so I was GOING to be upset when we went to Disney two weeks ago......I do have to admit that the ones they used for our burgers were not bad at all........and I honestly can say that....the cheeseburger was not one bite different when they put the meat on it and all the fixings.......tasted the same to me.....

I haven't had one of these wheat buns yet, but can anyone who has had one tell if they're really "whole grain" or if they're actually "enriched whole wheat flour" like you see on packages in the stores? If the latter, then they really are not much healthier than white bread because the "enriched" means that they stripped the healthy stuff out, then added vitamins or fiber back in, and thus it's "enriched." Your body won't really get the benefit out of it that it would if they are "whole grain" and not "enriched" anything. Seems to me if the choice is yucky enriched wheat bread (definitely bad for you and posing as healthy for you) or white bread (everyone knows it's bad for you, but at least it tastes good), then white would have to get my vote. If it's really whole grain (and you can tell because you should see bits of grain in it), then it's at least healthy, but then it wouldn't likely fall apart or taste terrible the way people are saying this stuff does. Anyone who had one -- do let us know what you think it was -- really "whole grain" or "enriched wheat flour."

I think Disney should offer a choice between white bread and whole grain -- like someone else said, the same way they offer fries or fruit. Otherwise, it's like offering fries or chocolate chip muffins. They're both unhealthy, but one "sounds" like it might be healthy. LOL!

I ate a hot dog at Casey's Corner in Magic Kingdom a couple weeks ago and it was wheat bread. They didn't ask if I wanted white, that's how it came. But I didn't ask either. So I don't know. I only ate here out of necessity of hunger, because I went to eat at Columbia Harbour House and my sandwich was taken off the menu that day, so I was bummed.

I'm gonna say enriched wheat flour. The bun was so anemic that you had to really look to figure out it wasn't white bread.

You are right you really had to look to see it wasn't white bread. But it didn't taste that bad at all really.

Wow! I didn’t know so many were so passionate about their buns. I usually like a white bread type of bun myself, but I either eat what they have or go bun-less. To be honest, I didn't even notice the bun on my burger until I was half way through it. The cheeseburger tasted the same to me by the time the meat and all the fixings were on it. I guess there was so much other stuff to eat that I really don’t sweat it.

Otherwise known as the "lets pretend they are healthier" bread products.

A choice would be great (and I don't eat wheat at all) - REAL healthy buns - like a good nine grain - or white bread.

(Anyone read "In Defense of Food?")

Doesn't matter to me! Pick whichever you wish Disney to serve, I probably won't be eating either option :duck:

I'm guessing it's enriched wheat flour as well. I prefer whole grain to white bread, I haven't eaten it since I was a kid and now it's too soft and gummy to me. I've been working hard to cut out HFCS out of my diet, so most commerical buns are not an option anyway. It's hard enough to find a good bun at the grocery store, I doubt Disney's buns are any better. I usually pick something else from the menu if I can.

But if anyone does get a hold of the nutritional information on the buns, if they are in fact HFCS free, I may try one! Without ketchup of course.

Yes, I am "passionate" about the buns. Probably because I am not a bread person at all. I'm not a cheeseburger type of person.

But the Disney hot dog WAS the most perfect thing ever created in my opinion. OK - over the top, I know. I could eat twenty of those in a day (I am a very tiny person). The perfect snack.

But now I'm boycotting them until we at least get a choice in the matter. Disney doesn't have to take away anything. Just bring back the white buns and give us the option of what we want.

And this is a really bad thought my husband had last weekend. As we were enjoying our second (well now first) favorite snack - a Disney soft pretzel - he said "are they going to change these to wheat ones too?" *faints*

Over the course of my last trip, I had a hot dog at DHS and a bbq sandwich at MK both of which were served on wheat buns. The buns tasted good, not much difference but like others had posted, it was a very light wheat in color, definitely not made from 100% whole grains, which to me kind of defeats the whole purpose, you're just eating something that's been over processed and colored to look like wheat. I normally buy and eat wheat bread at home but I like white bread buns. I just don't understand why they don't give people the choice, because most people aren't eating what they would normally eat while on vacation and feel it's ok to splurge, I know I do. Get with the program Disney, you have the #1 family vacation destination in the US. If your guests are already making the choice to have a hamburger/hotdog/sandwich of some sort, they probably aren't being truly health conscious at that moment, plus if the "said buns" aren't even that much of a nutritional difference, then WHAT's THE POINT!!??!!
