ok, I am wondering just how comfortable the swim shorts and tankini tops are in the parks????? I bought one for the 1st time this summer thinking it would be a good thing for AK. Going on Kali I won't care if I get wet.

BUT....now I'm having second thoughts. First, it seems like things might chafe for a bit before the swim shorts thoroughly dry. NOt a pleasant thought. And 2nd, with the tankini top....I'm thinking a) a lot more skin is exposed on my shoulders, front and back w/ the scoop neck. and b) w/ the built in bra and tight lycra material...will it actually be HOTTER when not wet?????

Anyone actually wear one of these while touring??? What did you think? Great idea? Good for the wet rides, but bring at least a top to change into afterwards? :confused3

Thanks for the help!

Its my understanding that swim suit type tops are not allowed in the parks, some are actually not allowed to enter the parks while wearing them.. I found this out by starting a thread on halter/tube tops..

WOW - I had no idea. My dh and ds have worn their bathing suit trunks (look like shorts) into the parks w/ t-shirts. After a ride....they ring out the t-shirt...and the shorts dry quickly. I was thinking this might be a good idea for the women in the party too. I have a nice pair of swim shorts and this tankini top that shows no part of my midriff. I'm so glad I posted. I can't imagine having decided to give it a try and being turned away at the gate!!! Maybe I'll wear the shorts w/ a t-shirt. At least they'll dry out more quickly.

Gee, I can't swear by it...but I thought I've seen women in shorts w/ a 1 piece bathing suit coming out as the top. But then, I'm almost POSITIVE I haven't seen shorts and a 2pc bathing suit top...and that's probably what Disney is really trying to avoid so they ban all bathing suits, halters, tube tops. :confused3 Will be interesting to see what others post. Thank you for the heads up!!!!

I would also think that loose-fitting clothes would be better/cooler, as opposed to swin suits, which "hug" the body.

Men are OK to wear the long swim trunks that look like shorts but no speedo's... and women can not wear bathing suits at all since ours show more skin.

There was recently a thread about Disney not allowing you to wear just swim suits at the parks - I think if you read through it, you should get some good info:

There was also another thread about the same thing, but I can't find that one.

Hope this helps!!

I would think a light weight sports bra and a light weight tank/tee with shorts would be best for a hot day. If you get wet, nothing will show through the sports bra.

Thank you all!!!! I'm so glad I posted...I had NO idea!!! Oh my goodness.

I'll go check out the link!!

I like the idea of a lightweight sports bra w/ the t-shirt. I just don't want to be one of those walking wet t-shirt types showing everything!!! Typically we haven't done the water rides at the parks as the kids were young, but this yr, everyone is looking forward to Splash, Kali, etc...and we'll be going in Sept when it's hot so I know Splash will have the extra splash at the top of the big drop!

An option I use a lot on hot days is a sports bra with a tank top over it. You could also go with a light (weight and color) button up shirt tied at the bottom. For the bottom half, something that works well is lightweight running shorts. Pulling jean shorts up and down to use the bathroom when you're hot and sweaty (or soaked from a water ride) is NO fun!

Second vote for the nylon running shorts! They dry very quickly and are very comfortable. (I often wear them over my swimsuit when I want more coverage, and even go into the pool with them!)

And a definite "thumbs down" to wearing denim shorts. I wore some at Seaworld several years ago, and got talked into going a very wet water ride. My shorts were wringing wet all day long! Talk about uncomfortable!

Cotton shorts are also good. They dry fast and they don't bother you like a pair of jeans shorts do.
