I want to make a hot cheese dip (crockpot) for DS's birthday party next weekend. I know I can do velveeta and rotel, but I was wondering if anyone had something a little different. Thanks!

I like velveta with a can of chili for chili con carne. You could even add ground, cooked sausage to it to beef it up some if you wanted.

Oh, or you could do a fondue type cheese dip. I like a bag of shreeded swiss, with a litlte garlic and some liquid. I usually use wine, but probably not best for DS's bday. You could probably use cream or water or chicken broth. About 1/2 a cup for each 8 oz of cheese. You can change this to any type of cheese too, cheddar, colbyjack, whatever.

I did a google search on sausage cheese dip - one of my favorites but I don't have the recipe with me - and these are a couple that I found that sounded good. I also googled beef and cheese dip but most of those were the layered/baked kind.

You may want to google yourself and see if there are others that appeal to you more.

Hope this helps,

Sandy

Hot Sausage and Cheese Dip</FONT>

1 lb Sausage
1 cn (13 oz.) evaporated milk
2 lb Velveeta cheese
1 pk Garlic salad dressing mix
Crumble sausage and brown slowly on range top. Melt cheese and cream on a low burner. Add sausage to cheese and cream mixture. Stir in dressing mix. Serve warm with Doritos, tostados or fresh vegetables. Very good if guests can dip cheese onto chips from warm slow cooker.

This cheese and sausage dip is a favorite recipe from Joyce.
INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 (1 pound) package Velveeta Cheese
  • 1 can Chili - no beans
  • 1 pound medium or spicy sausage, browned and crumbled
PREPARATION:

Combine Velveeta cheese, chili, and browned sausage in crockpot.
You can heat this on the stove until the cheese melts and it all mixes together. I usually put it in the Crock Pot on low until blended and then keep it there to serve.
I have to double the recipe because it would all be gone in a half hour otherwise.

Thanks everyone! They all sound easy and yummy! I'll let y'all know which I pick and if it was a hit...the party isn't until July 2nd so I have some time to decide. :)

I've done a poack of cream cheese and a can of homel chili. Very yummy.

I have a really good chicken dip recipe.

1 box cream cheese
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 large can of shredded chicken
1/2 jar of jalapenos (add some of the juice if you like it spicier) chopped or whole rings

Put in crockpot and serve with Fritos Scoops. It is SOOO good!!

This dip is awesome! I usually double it and make it in a 13x9 dish because it goes so fast!

HOT SWISS CHEESE DIP

1 1/2 cups grated swiss cheese
3/4 cup light mayonnaise
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Mix first three ingredients. Place in 8x8 casserole dish. Place crumbled bacon on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

Here is a recipe that I make for all special occasions. It gets rave reviews:

1 8 oz. package Velveeta
1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. sausage
1 jar salsa (you decide how spicy..I use mild)
1 can cream of mushroom soup

Cut cheese up into chunks and place in crockpot to allow the cheese to start melting. (It won't look like it is enough cheese, but it is!) Add jar of salsa and stir. Brown ground beef and sausage and add to crockpot. Add jar of cream of mushroom. Allow to warm in crockpot until everything melds together. Yummy!

This one is easy -

Jar of Cheese Whiz (I use the light)
Can of Hormel Chili with Beans

Heat on low for about 2 hours stirring occassionally to get the cheese "melted" and then keep on low while serving.

I have a little 1 qt crock pot and this fits great in. So you can double, triple, quadruple - it's very good!!!!

Even more great dips! Yum!! I'll have to be the "dip person" for all of our upcoming family gatherings...I want to try them all!

I think this may be the easiest hot cheese dip ever.

Cook 1 roll of (I use Bob Evans) sausage

Melt 1 jar of Cheese Wiz

Mix together!

I put this in a mini crock pot to keep warm and serve with Fritos Scoops

However, it does not last long!

Here is our favorite cheese dip recipe. It takes a little extra time to prepare, but we think it is worth every minute.

1 lb Velveeta, 1/2 C milk
1 can Rotel, blended smooth, 1/4 C flour
1/2 C butter, 1/2 tsp ground mustard seed
1 tsp ketchup, 1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp whole cumin, 1 tsp ground cumin

Melt butter in a saucepan then add the flour to form paste. Next add all of the spices to the paste. Then add the milk and blended Rotel and stir until completely mixed. Add the Velveeta and stir constantly until melted. Place in crockpot on low to keep warm.

This dip is a major favorite.

1 # hamburger
1/2 c chopped onion
1 green pepper, finely chopped
1/3 t garlic power
1/2 t salt
1/2 t oregano
8 oz cream cheese
1 can tomato soup

Brown hamburger with onion and green pepper, drain grease, add rest of the ingredients and simmer 15 min.
