What sites do ya'll use to upload your pictures?
I've been using both flickr and photobucket and my pictures appear grainy once they are uploaded.
Any suggestions?
Use a program like Irfanview to make resized copies of your images and then upload them to Photobucket with the do not resize option. I use Flock to upload mine, but I think that option is also available through the website.
I am one of the many happy smugmug users here, if you want to try it there is a free 30 day trial period and if you use this code HJwjORAaIC4PY you can save a few bucks as well.
I agree with Kevin, your best bet is to resize before uploading as the algorithms that those photo sites use may not be the best for your subject matter. I found a free program called Visualizer Photo Resize that does a pretty good job. It will also allow you to add watermarks (text or graphic) to your photos if you want to somehow mark the pictures so that others don't "borrow" them without giving you credit. It does individual photos or batches of photos and allows you to save the resized images in a separate folder so the originals are untouched. That might eliminate the grainy look you are getting without having to change web hosts.
If you are intent on moving to a new hosting platform, many of the web presence vendors are now offering photo services. I get what seems like weekly emails from goDaddy.com claiming they have photo album capabilities. You can also use a program like JAlbum to make your own photo albums and upload them to whatever web space you have available.
