Did anyone get accepted into any of these roles yet? I think I saw one girl on facebook who got into BBB and a couple people in hospitality.... These are all the roles I applied for and I got a pending letter, but I've heard they are the more "competitive" roles...anyone get accepted in them yet or know of people who have? For Spring 2010

Also, does anyone have any idea just how "exclusive" these roles are? I really feel like I should have applied for a more common role like custodial or qsfb but my train of thought when applying was that I wanted to have some work experience that is more applicable to being an adult rather than jobs that I could have had when I was 16 :/

BBB- probably the most competitive of what you have listed. There are only 2 locations on property. Neither are very big. As a whole, there aren't a lot of cast members there. The CP positions tend to be proportional to the other staffing, so there are probably not very many CPs that get this.

Concierge- this is new. they added it late last semester. the description makes it appear that it is a true concierge position which would be staffed at the higher end resorts. that would limit the number of overall cast there which would limit the number of CPs. I would guess that the CPs that get this would have concierge experience or experience working in high end hotels. being able to speak another language wouldn't hurt either. however, the last time i was at port orleans riverside, there was a "concierge" desk that was more of a "guest services" position. I would think that would be part of hospitality, but i don't know. im sure someone who recently worked in hospitality can clarify that.

Vacation Planner- not a whole lot of locations, but more Cast there than the above 2. While it may be competitive, probably less so than those. Experience handling large money transactions would be a bonus here. Park tix are $$$$. also there are so many variables to the tickets now, being able to quickly familiarize oneself with all of the add-ons and whatnot would help.

Hospitality - my guess would be that this is the least competitive of your list due to the number of locations across WDW. "least" does not mean "not competitive". experience in hotels would benefit anyone.

There are food and beverage and merchandise locations in all of the theme parks, water parks, resorts, and other areas. Custodial is all over the place too. I'd also throw attractions in there due to the number in the theme parks. attractions cast members are also placed at disney quest in downtown disney. I'd say that those 4 positions are probably easier to get into than any of the other positions just based on number of cast members needed to staff each of those types of locations across WDW.

EDIT- I'd also add that when they do the summer program for alumni, those are the positions that they usually open up. they also offer up lifeguard to alumni, so that may be one to add here too. they only do the summer program if they need staffing and they would only offer positions that need staffing.

My friend got into Hospitality 2 days ago. She didn't even apply for it! But she DID work in a hotel for the entire summer and is in BU's School of Hospitality Administration...so it's not hard to imagine why she got it.

Congrats Allison! (My shout out :goodvibes)

All resorts have a concierge desk. The major functions are guest services (tickets and dining reservations). The Deluxe resorts also have Club (Concierge) Level buildings/floors/wings that are staffed, both in terms of the CL Lounge, and also an additional Concierge desk or two. These ones are usually (always?) staffed by FT cast, not CPs.

If you want to get into the BBB you'll need hairdressing experience, or your interviewer will have to love you.

When they first opened it was a matter of chance, now it's a matter of experience.

I appreciate the clarification on this. CP just added "concierge" late last semester, so there really isn't anyone around who has fully experienced this role and can report back.

Based on the info on the CP site in regards to the position, it does sound like CPs are being placed into the Club Level buildings.

"Working concierge buffet line"
"Partnering with property VIP tour guides"

I guess my question is if the "Concierge" Cast that work the Club Level buildings are in their own role or do they rotate between the Club Level buildings and the moderate/value resorts?

And another would be are the "Concierge" Cast at the moderate/value part of the front desk rotation or are they hired specifically to act as concierge at the moderate and value resorts?

The way they've worded the job description, it sounds like the CPs could possibly be cross-trained for Club Level. The resort I'm at (a deluxe resort with a Club Level) currently has 2 CPs that are Concierge CPs, but neither of them is trained on Club Level. I suppose it's possible that they eventually get cross trained for Club, but that hasn't happened as of yet.

When a Cast Member, CP or otherwise, is hired, they will be assigned to a home resort. There may be brief (usually 1 week at a time) periods where they get "deployed" to another resort, but for the most part, they will be working at their home resort. (Some resorts may be organized such that there are multiple "resorts" but they share the same staff ... ex: All Stars (Sports, Music, Movies), Port Orleans (Riverside, French Quarter), and OKW/SSR)

All concierge cast will learn the front desk, and probably spend their first 3-4 weeks there to get used to the resort before even going to Concierge classes.

So, to provide a few examples (which may clarify things some):
CP #1 gets a role as a concierge at the All Stars. They will work in all 3 of the All Stars, and they may be temporarily deployed, but they will spend most of their program at All Stars, as a lobby concierge.

CP #2 gets a role as a concierge at the Grand Floridian. They will work mostly as a lobby concierge at the Grand, but they MAY be cross-trained to the Club Level, in which case they'd work in the lounge as well as staffing the Club Level Concierge Desk. They may be deployed to another resort, where, due to differences in the way other resorts work, they would probably be in the lobby concierge position for their deployment.

CP#1 and CP#2 will both learn the front desk.
