I was wondering if anyone has gone horseback riding at Disney? Any information you can give me would be great. Thanks :flower:

It's more like a slow walk than a ride. They follow a trail at a given pace and it is rather boring. . . .

depends on how much riding they've done.
If they're new to riding this might be an excellent start as the horses in general are VERY tame/gentle.
However, if they've ridden before in scenic areas this might be a boring ride.

Thanks for your replies! My kids have never ridden before so slow and boring is just perfect for them. :wave2:

well I would say this would be an excellent first experience.
I practically grew up with Ft W as our 2nd home. I was a big horse fan and had to ride the ponies and had to ride the big horses soon as I was old enough.
The rides are safer than ever. They have helmets and such for all riders. They've always selected gentle horses and the experienced hosts usually select a horse for the rider after seeing the person whose going to ride.

About every trail ride instructor has horses of their own and their own stables. So they KNOW what they're doing. Might not be the most exciting trail but it is safe and most kids will get a kick out of it if they like horses.

Course all kiddies dream of riding a horse FAST but that would be totally unrealistic.

I would also suggest going on an early ride. Also plan on them going straight to the 'showers' after the trail ride, coz they'll get dusty!
