Does anyone know how much it costs to take a horse-drawn carriage ride in New York City? A group of friends are going to see a show in June and would like to do this afterwards but can't find any info on it. I thought maybe my fellow disers would be able to help them out :) . Any details you can share would be appreciated.

I could be wrong, but the last time I did that, which was a few years ago, it was somewhere in the area of $40 or $50 dollars. I think it is a nice treat, something that you don't do all the time.

:D Thanks everyone. The link that Briar Rose provided says that the carriage rides can only be after 11 p.m. on Saturdays? If that's the case, I think that is a lot later than they would want to stay in the city. They are seeing an afternoon show. I'll pass on the info to them.

Edited to add: I took another look and it says carriage rides outside the park can only take place after 11 p.m. on Saturdays. I am assuming that means that the ones through the park take place in the afternoon. Anyone know for sure?

Yes, inside Central Park you can ride most of the day - mid-morning through very late. Only outside the park are the times limited to nights and weekends - not that with traffic and people you'd want to do that during the day! But you really don't need to go outside the park, there's plenty to see inside and it's a beautiful ride. You can pretty much go anywhere around the perimeter of the park to catch them - usually on the south end. I recommend either catching one at/near the Plaza Hotel or somewhere on 57th near Fifth Avenue. Tell your friends to have a great time. Hope they're seeing a great show.

you misread it the first time. you can ride around the park day or night, but you can only ride down 5th Avenue after 11 pm.

If you like animals, though, you might want to think twice before taking a carriage ride in NYC. Those horses live and work in HORRIBLE conditions. I think carriage rides are great, but we never did one the whole time we lived in NYC. I would rather do them at a place like WDW where I know I'm not supporting animal abuse.
Cheers!
