We are staying at Disney World for the first 2 weeks of October & want to go to Universal for a day. What day's are best to go crowds wise as we don't want to end up choosing to go on a busy day! Also, we're from the UK so we can't book 1 day tickets in advance so have to get them on the gate & we really want to go on a day when the horror nights is on. Can you normally get the tickets for this on the day or will it be sold out? And what sort of time will it finish & will there still be cabs there for us to be able to get back to Disney?

HHN is usually staged Thursdays through Sunday but the crowds don't usually start picking up until later in the afternoon. I would recommend either Thursday or Sunday which is off peak and usually has the lighter crowds. Friday and Saturday nights are insane and the Express Pass is essentially for any night. If you go on any night HHN is being staged, you can do Stay and Scream if you're in the park by regular park closing..which is 5pm on HHN nights. I strongly recommend this so you won't have to wait in the lines out front. You could purchase tickets at Guest Services or online later in the year once the website is up. I think there is a way for UK residents to purchase HHN tickets in advance through the website.

HHN is usually over at midnight on off peak nights and either 1am or 2am on weekends. Taxi cabs will still be available to take you to Disney.

Do NOT go on Fridays or Saturdays!!!It's always super crowded but weekends are ridiculous, also the earlier in the month you go the better. This year the way Halloween came around they had the event all the way up to November 3rd which was very reasonable crowd wise,so go early in the month or if it's held after Halloween it might not be too bad,but will probably be weekend date.Even going on a non-peak night it's usually hard to get everything, houses and shows in unless you're there from opening,so I also agree that if you're in the park during the day, stay in the STAY AND SCREAM area as they'll usually let you out before the official 7pm opening to do 2 or 3 houses that they'll have open.Doing this is very important as even on non-peak nights once 9pm or so comes around lines will be near an hour on non-peak nights to over 2 hours on peak nights and this year there were 8 houses, plus there will be the usual Bill and Ted's show as well as a couple more to do.

thanks for your replys!! we arrive at florida on 2nd so we've decided that the thurday after, the 9th, will probably be the best time to go as you said its an off peak day & its early in the month so hopefully it wont be to busy. we're planning on getting to the park early in the morning as we want to make a day of it & try & get to do all the rides & attractions so we will make sure we buy our horror nights tickets in advance before the holiday or in the morning when we arrive so then this way we will already be in the park & can stay in then ready for the opening. it sounds really cool that we might get to do some things before they let anyone else in!! just out of interest, whats the stay & scream thing? what sort of things can u do between the closing of the park & the opening of the horror nights? thanks!
