DD7 is a huge fan or horror movies (because she gets that they are actors with fake blood, etc.). She's very excited about the Horror Make-Up show. Can you guys tell me a bit more about what we could see, and any tips like where to sit for the best spot, how early to arrive to get a select seat, etc.
Do they select audience members for participation?
We'll be there this upcoming Monday. Photos would be great too. I've seen a few on the pic of the day thread.

Thanks!

Best bet is to sit up as close as possible. It's a great show how they do the special effects in horror movies. I'm not going to ruin the show so thats as far as I will go. They do pick someone but its completely random. We normally see a few times during our stay.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Middle for sure and front couple of rows is best. We usually get there 15 minutes early to check out the lobby but it depends on when you're going. You can peak your head in the lobby and see how the linds are building up and make that decision then.

If you'll have express passes, the express pass line will be to your left as you enter the waiting area.

It is a small place so basically you can see from all seats. However, the front row is the best. They will pick an adult female to help out. Like the other poster said, it is better not to know too much of what is going to happen (even though I have gone every year and still love it. It is a really great show.

Another warning- there is this creepy older woman that works in the waiting area. She likes to get the fake arms from the show and sneak up and touch people. It is so gross. I've almost put in a formal complaint more than once. It is one thing to jump out and say "boo" if you just want to make people scream... but I DO NOT appreciate being touched even with a fake hand.

I don't understand why this can happen when scare actors aren't allowed to touch you at HHN? It has gotten to the point that I skip the show when I see her. :sad2:

Wow, I have been too many times to count and have never seen this happen. Was this only one time?

Would this be too scary for my almost 5y old?

My son was 5 when he first saw it and had no problems. But its your child so only you could know what they can handle. If you want to know for sure I would look up some youtube videos and see for yourself. But that could ruin the experience for you.:thumbsup2

At least three times in the past 2 months. But like I said, I've started just leaving when I see her. I thought about taking video to submit - but who would you send it to?

Edit: I was there March 13th with my sisters and I warned them. They said they never had any trouble. I was actually behind my sister when *creepy old lady* came up with her fake arm to to grope my sister. I grabbed her arm (I know- but I was stopping her) and asked her to please not touch us. It was really uncomfortable and we left. I just don't understand how it is ok?

So if you want to get picked for audience participation sit in the middle of the theater and do not raise your hand. In fact look as if you don't want to be there at all. And it helps if you're Asian...just saying.

This is so true. :lmao:

When I was there they selected two difference audience members (one a kid, on an old lady) and for the lady they made it look her arm was being cut into (so if you want to do that, wear short sleeves! ;)) and I don't remember about the other one. The audience members were both picked from the front row or close to it.

It wasn't exactly my favorite thing because I hate horror movies and I'm terrified of blood/gore, but I will admit it was a funny show.

I just remember being scared to death by a lady in the lobby who tried to grab my hand with a rubber hand she was holding!! Lol!

i see this show on each day on my vacation there.

i just love it....

be sure to take your camera with you.
take lots of pictures that are in the lobby..

I've actually never heard anything negative about what she does. I always see people come in and just watch her because they get a good laugh.

I'm indifferent about it. She always tried to get me when I first started coming to the show, but I knew what to expect and I always watched her so she never tried to scare me or anything. It's really all in good fun...

I also don't understand how it is groping when she only touches peoples' arms?

Anyway, the Horror Make-Up Show is my favorite! :) It really is a fun show.

Well, my first time she put it on may waist. I was walking next to my husband and I just thought it was him (not the desired reaction). Until the hand kept getting higher and higher and eventually was up to "girlie parts". I'm sure this wasn't on purpose - but I didn't appreciate it. She was also going for my sister's waist when we were there on March 13th. I'm sure I'm in the minority so that is why I've just started skipping it when she it there. Anyway - didn't mean to be off topic. I just wish someone would have warned me.

It really is a great show! I miss not being able to see it every time I'm there.

This is the most amazingly true statement ever! Poor girl at the last show barely spoke english! she hadn't a clue what was going on! made for the best show ever... just sayin.
